7 Surprising Spider-Man Cameos You Totally Forgot About!

Spider-Man is a legendary superhero, known alongside greats such as Batman and Superman. Originating in 1962 under the creative minds of Stan Lee (writer-editor) and Steve Ditko (artist), he has inspired countless comics, movies, TV shows, video games, books, plays, and even theme parks. The live-action Spider-Man trilogy directed by Sam Raimi, with Tobey Maguire in the lead role, grossed over $2.5 billion worldwide. Since then, he’s starred in multiple standalone films and made his debut alongside other superheroes for the first time in “Captain America: Civil War.”

On the contrary, “The Avengers” movies aren’t the only instances where Spider-Man has made an appearance. In fact, he’s popped up quite a few times, sometimes in unexpected ways. He’s graced children’s TV shows like “Phineas and Ferb,” and even sneaked into shows like “Jessica Jones” through Easter eggs. While some of these appearances might be widely recognized, others might have gone unnoticed, even by devoted fans. Here are seven Spider-Man appearances that you might have forgotten about.

Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel

In a delightful twist, Spider-Man made an unexpected entrance in the joint adventure titled “Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel.” This unique crossover episode saw various superheroes from the Marvel universe teaming up. In this installment, we witness Dr. Doofenshmirtz unintentionally employing his gadget named “Power Drain-Inator” on Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, and Thor, depriving them of their superpowers. With their powers missing, the heroes join forces with Phineas, Ferb, and their companions to restore their abilities. The episode additionally showcased several Marvel antagonists such as Red Skull, Whiplash, Venom, and M.O.D.O.K.

Jessica Jones

In the TV series Jessica Jones, even though the appearance of Spider-Man was brief and discreet, it served as a delightful Easter egg for fans. During Season 1, Episode 12, ice pops resembling Spider-Man could be seen on sale while Jessica (played by Krysten Ritter) was following a courier under Kilgrave’s control through Central Park. This is a nod to the well-known real-life ice cream and serves as a hint of Spider-Man’s presence within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, despite lasting only a few seconds on screen.

Guardians of the Galaxy: The Animated Series

In Season 2’s episode titled “Spider-Man Unmasked,” we witness Spider-Man teaming up with Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot to fight off a perilous symbiote invasion. The dialogue between him and Rocket in this episode was quite amusing. Since Rocket is known for his biting sarcasm, Spider-Man comes back with swift and endless clever comebacks. This collaboration also underscores the interconnectedness of Marvel’s animated universe.

Daredevil

In the Daredevil series, though Spider-Man himself doesn’t make an appearance, there are numerous subtle references to him. For instance, in Season 1, Foggy mentions running into Morales, which is a nod to Rio Morales, the mother of Miles Morales. Additionally, in Season 1, Episode 12, when Ben Urich is about to discover Wilson Fisk’s presence, a Spider-Man photo can be seen on the newspaper hanging on his bulletin board. These hidden nods delight Marvel fans, suggesting that Miles Morales is part of a broader universe.

Fantastic Four: World’s Greatest Heroes

In Season 1 of Fantastic Four: World’s Greatest Heroes, Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, brings on a freelance photographer to enhance his public persona. Although the photographer’s identity isn’t explicitly shown in the episode, hints strongly suggest it’s Peter Parker. Despite not being explicitly mentioned, this photographer is later confirmed as Peter Parker, voiced by Sam Vincent. This brief cameo is particularly thrilling because it’s uncommon for Fantastic Four characters to cross paths with other Marvel superheroes.

Muppet Babies

Back in the day, even before I (as Spider-Man) swung into my own big screen debut, I made a sneaky appearance on the animated series of “Muppet Babies”. In an episode titled “Comic Capers”, I popped up amidst the Muppet Babies’ imaginative superhero escapades. This was all part of the Marvel Productions-produced show, and it seems this adventure was sparked by the timeless comic strip “The Amazing Spider-Man”. Who would have thought that a superhero like me would cross paths with the beloved Muppets? It just goes to show how far my popularity has reached!

Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.

In an episode featuring the superheroes Spider-Man, Hulk, Red Hulk, She-Hulk, A-Bomb, Skaar, and members of the S.M.A.S.H team, they band together to thwart the malicious schemes of The Leader and The Abomination. This episode is engaging as it showcases the contrasting combat styles of Spider-Man and Hulk. While Hulk and his allies employ raw power, Spider-Man’s strategic intellect and agile fighting techniques keep viewers on their toes.
