She becomes a skilled martial artist and later joins the Avengers to fulfill her prophecy as the Celestial Madonna. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Mantis is the offspring of Ego and Peter Quill’s half-sister, played by actress Pom Klementieff. It would be interesting to see more character development for Mantis, especially now that she has embarked on her own adventures.

However, this version of the character is more coherent, particularly when considering he’s a result of the High Evolutionary’s genetic tinkering. This simplification of Adam Warlock’s comic book origins allows for potential future exploration of his complex backstory in the MCU.

3) Groot Is Stronger & More Compelling in the MCU

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), most of the Guardians of the Galaxy, including the sentient tree named Groot, have more depth, realism, and complexity. Groot, voiced by Vin Diesel, is particularly strong in the MCU, with each version receiving substantial character development, making him even more captivating and enjoyable to watch. The bond between Groot and Rocket (portrayed by Bradley Cooper) has been a delight to witness grow, and it’s exciting to think that both characters may reappear to embark on new adventures as part of the revamped Guardians of the Galaxy team.

2) Peter Quill’s Celestial Backstory Makes More Sense in the MCU

A better decision was made by Marvel to debut the 2008 version of the Guardians of the Galaxy as the initial team in the MCU instead of the original 1969 one. The original group, consisting of Stakar Ogord, Martinex T’Naga, Yondu Udonta, and others from Marvel Comics, was teased in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” but did not receive payoff within the MCU. The team comprising Peter Quill, Gamora (played by Zoe Saldaña), Drax, Groot, and Rocket is more relatable and offers richer interpersonal dynamics and personal conflicts, which significantly boosts the appeal of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise in the MCU.
