7 Unbelievable Mistakes in Spider-Man Movies You Can’t Ignore!

Since his debut in 1962, Spider-Man has become one of the most iconic characters in pop culture. His big screen appearances have only boosted his fame even more. Sam Raimi’s movie version captured the essence of the character perfectly, thanks to Tobey Maguire’s portrayal of the teenage angst and ethical struggles that made the comics so appealing. Over time, the cinematic portrayals of Spider-Man changed through various reboots. This ranged from Andrew Garfield’s humorous take on the character to Tom Holland’s depiction in the MCU. Finally, they all came together for a grand team-up in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Undeniably, these films have provided quite a bit of fun and amusement. Yet, there’s no denying that several blunders found their way onto the screen. Given the complexity of large-scale productions, it’s hardly surprising when something slips through the cracks. Nevertheless, it’s fascinating to see how these oversights can occasionally bring a chuckle – take a look below for examples.

The Impossible Wall-Climb – Spider-Man

Following the bite from a radioactive spider, Peter Parker finds himself with extraordinary abilities. To give these newfound talents a spin, he chooses to explore them in New York City. In a vacant alley, one of the powers he experiments with is scaling bricks on a wall.

This scene appears quite intriguing, yet pay attention to his attire; it seems to protrude forward and away from him, suggesting that the “wall” he’s “ascending” might actually be a floor cleverly designed to mimic a wall. Furthermore, notice how he casts a shadow straight in front of him, despite a massive wall with a potential light source supposedly behind him. This leads me to believe that this scene was most likely filmed in a studio, with the background added digitally.

Doctor Octopus Doesn’t Skip Leg Day – Spider-Man 2

In Spider-Man 2, there’s an exciting sequence where Doctor Octopus coincidentally enters the same bank as Peter Parker and Aunt May. After this unlikely encounter, Doctor Octopus forcefully removes a massive bank vault door and makes off with several heavy sacks of cash. This sets the stage for a thrilling action-packed confrontation between Doctor Octopus and Spider-Man.

In the context of this superhero movie, it’s worth noting that Doctor Octopus could only pull off the bank vault door with all four mechanical arms if his legs were strong enough to support the significant weight. Given Otto Octavius is a scientist, we might as well mention the apparent disregard for the fundamental principles of physics in this scenario.

Aunt May’s Teleporting Head – Spider-Man 3

In the realm of Spider-Man 3, one of the heartwarming scenes I found myself deeply moved by was when I, as Peter Parker, paid a visit to my dear Aunt May to share some incredible news: I intended to ask Mary Jane Watson for her hand in marriage. The joy that radiated from Aunt May at this announcement was palpable; she was so overjoyed for us that she bestowed upon me her cherished old wedding ring, asking me to propose to MJ with it.

I can’t help but notice something peculiar, just after Peter shares the news with dear Aunt May. In the initial frame, her head moves towards his left shoulder for an embrace, but in the next, it swiftly shifts to his right. Could it be that Aunt May has a hidden talent we’re yet to discover? After all, with great power comes… well, you know the rest!

Flimsy Guardrail – The Amazing Spider-Man

As the movie nears its climax, I found myself soaring through the concrete jungle of New York City as Spider-Man, hurrying towards Oscorp to thwart the Lizard’s sinister plan. His goal: preventing the release of a hazardous biochemical agent that would transform the city’s inhabitants into reptilian-human hybrids. Injured and fatigued, I struggled against the odds, but fate intervened when some resourceful construction workers skillfully maneuvered their cranes to create a clear path for my web-slinging journey.

Due to Spider-Man’s injury, he suffers a harsh tumble off the edge of a building and lands on a fire escape, colliding with a flexible, bendable railing that appears to be more like rubber than metal. Keen observers will spot this anomaly as the railing seemed too yielding for metal, purposefully designed to protect the stunt double from getting hurt.

Tony Stark Doesn’t Understand Daylight – Spider-Man: Homecoming

In a chase on the Staten Island Ferry, Spider-Man locates the Vulture who’s intending to peddle Chitauri technology-powered weapons to Mac Gargan, a notorious gangster. Amidst the fight that follows, one of these weapons detonates, causing the ferry to divide into two pieces. As it appears Spider-Man might lose control and fail to keep the ship intact, Iron Man intervenes heroically to prevent disaster.

In the given sentence, “Day” is the key term indicating the time of the scene. However, when Tony Stark later scolds Peter Parker for his risky behavior, he poses the question, “What if someone had died tonight?” It’s reasonable to wonder if a genius like Tony can differentiate between day and night, right?

Happy’s Invisible Stitching – Spider-Man: Far From Home

Following Peter’s discovery that he had inadvertently handed over E.D.I.T.H. control to Quentin Beck, he journeys to Berlin to inform Nick Fury about Beck’s intentions for the AI program. Unfortunately, this encounter turns out to be another one of Mysterio’s illusions, leading to Peter being struck by a train. In need of assistance, Peter reaches out to Happy Hogan to retrieve him from the Netherlands, as they work together to devise their next course of action.

In this particular scene, I’m the one tenderly attending to a wound on Peter’s back, but if it isn’t some top-secret Stark Industries’ invisible suture material and needle, it’s obvious that I’m just putting up an act of stitching him up. Nevertheless, hats off to Jon Favreau for his exceptional performance!

Even Doctor Strange Doesn’t Know How His Spell Works – Spider-Man: No Way Home

As Mysterio’s revelation of my true identity as Spider-Man leaves me in a whirlwind, not only am I grappling with chaos, but those close to me find themselves in similar turmoil. In a bid to restore normalcy, I seek out Doctor Strange who offers a spell designed to erase everyone’s knowledge of my secret identity. Alas, my impulsiveness creeps in during the casting, adding fuel to the fire and causing further complications.

At first glance, Doctor Strange’s proposal seems reasonable, but upon closer examination, it becomes clear that it wouldn’t fully resolve the issue with Mysterio. Merely making people forget that Peter is Spider-Man won’t undo the harm; he would also need to eliminate all video and news content related to the revelation of his identity. This is because one person, if they were to watch TV or check social media, could easily rediscover Spider-Man’s true identity. So, Doctor Strange, it seems there are more steps required for a complete solution.
