7 Wholesome Anime Picks That Will Fill Your Heart With Good Vibes

Anime series like “One Piece,” “Dragon Ball,” and “Demon Slayer” deliver heart-pounding action, while “Berserk,” “Fullmetal Alchemist,” and “Neon Genesis Evangelion” delve into profound philosophical questions. “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End,” “The Ancient Magus’ Bride,” and “Dandadan” present magical and fantastical realms, but when it comes to unwinding with something less complex and more heartwarming, simpler, peaceful anime can be a delightful choice.

These shows are great at evoking a range of emotions – from laughter to tears of happiness, and leaving you with a cozy, even excited, feeling inside. While characters may encounter minor conflicts and everyday challenges, remember we all go through similar situations. The beauty lies in the fact that these anime tackle familiar subjects and themes in an endearing manner, reminding us that life is full of wonder and positive experiences.

1) My Love Story!!

In a nutshell, Takeo Gouda – a tall, imposing yet kind and genuine high school freshman – is admired by his male peers for bravery and gallantry, but he’s not as popular with women as his charming and handsome best friend Makoto Sunakawa, who frequently has females confessing their affection towards him. However, when Takeo bravely saves a cute girl named Rinko Yamato from harassment on the train, he instantly falls for her. Despite suspecting that she might be attracted to Sunakawa, Takeo vows to shield Rinko at all costs, oblivious to the fact that she shares his feelings in return.

However, when these two individuals unite, their profound affection for one another creates an exceptionally heartwarming romance. Unlike many anime series that center around conventionally attractive protagonists, “My Love Story!!” subverts typical shoujo conventions by focusing on a compassionate character who might not initially fit the traditional ideal of attractiveness, yet is granted the opportunity for love and the spotlight.

My Love Story!! can be streamed on Crunchyroll and Hulu where available.

2) Spy x Family

In the peaceful cities of Ostania and Westalis, where tensions simmer beneath the surface, undercover agent Twilight assumes the identity of psychiatrist Loid Forger in Berlint, gathering intelligence on politician Donovan Desmond. To bridge this gap, Loid recruits Yor Briar, an unmarried city hall employee, and Anya, a child he recently adopted, pretending they form a typical, content family. Unaware of his family’s true nature, Loid discovers that both Yor, whom he knows as an ordinary clerk, is actually a renowned assassin called “Thorn Princess,” and Anya possesses the unique ability to read minds, which she hides from others.

Despite initially presenting as a mere front, their affection for each other in this unique family becomes genuine. With a mother who is an assassin, a father who spies, and a daughter with extraordinary powers, Spy x Family showcases a delightfully endearing family trio whose bond deepens as they nurture their fabricated connections.

When she learns to transform into a human girl with Sousuke’s blood, she rushes back to him, causing a disturbance in nature along the way. As their bond deepens, Sousuke and his mother welcome Ponyo not only as a friend but also as a cherished family member.

In the distinctive style of Studio Ghibli, where they add their unique touch to timeless stories, Ponyo offers a delightfully charming take on a fairy tale reminiscent of The Little Mermaid.
