DoorDash Exec Josh Pickles and 7 More Die in Lake Tahoe Boat Tragedy

A recent Lake Tahoe boating accident resulted in the tragic death of eight individuals.

Among the victims was Joshua Pickles, a 37-year-old DoorDash executive residing in San Francisco, along with his parents Terry Pickles, aged 73, and Paula Bozinovic, who is also 71 years old. The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Division communicated this information to ABC 7 San Francisco. Another victim was Josh’s uncle, Peter Bayes, a 72-year-old relative, as reported by the family spokesperson to the same outlet.

In recent events, a tragic boating accident resulted in the deaths of four individuals aged between 60 and 70, marking the deadliest such incident in California since 2019, according to reports. Miraculously, only two individuals were reported as survivors, although their current health status remains unclear.

On June 21st, Josh and his family took a trip on a Californian lake aboard Josh’s 27-foot Chris-Craft luxury powerboat to celebrate Paula’s 71st birthday. However, during a storm at around 5 p.m., authorities received distress calls stating that their boat had overturned, as reported by ABC 7.

The representative shared with ABC 7 that this heart-wrenching incident claimed the lives of Joshua Pickles, his father Terry, mother Paula, uncle Peter, along with friends and relatives. Notably, the family owns properties in both the Bay Area and Lake Tahoe. Their affection for the lake intensifies the sorrow we are experiencing from this unfortunate event.

At the given moment, Josh’s spouse, Jordan Pickles, chose not to join the voyage due to looking after their 7-month-old son ashore, according to the representative. Tragically, although she made it through the boat accident that proved fatal for her husband, Jordan later expressed how this loss has significantly impacted her life.

She expressed deep sorrow, stating that no words could adequately convey the pain and distress she feels, knowing that lives were taken during a supposedly joyful time at Lake Tahoe. Her sympathies are extended to those who suffered losses in this unexpected and fatal storm, as well as the two survivors.

Based on his LinkedIn profile, Josh served as the Worldwide Leader for Strategic Purchasing and Supply within the Financial department at DoorDash, having been with the company for close to seven years.
