Similar to many OLED monitors, the S3225QC is indeed a premium product. However, its price seems reasonable considering the high-quality performance it offers.

Dell S3225QC review: What I like

Setting up the Dell S3225QC monitor shares similarities with other Dell or Alienware displays, however, it features a more lightweight, whitish design instead of the usual silver tone that Dell often opts for.

The item comes with a broad, squared base and a cylindrical stand, effortlessly assembled without requiring any tools. It also has a convenient feature where all the ports are discreetly concealed, maintaining a sleek appearance.

Initially, you’ll notice that the screen boasts a sizable 32-inch OLED display, featuring slim bezels on three sides. However, hidden beneath it lies a substantial 5-speaker soundbar, significantly contributing to the overall quality of the monitor’s audio performance.

Before we dive into the main topic, let’s first discuss this screen. The Dell S3225QC boasts a 4K, 120Hz Quantum Dot OLED panel, and it delivers a stunning visual experience. The resolution is ideal for its size, while the 120Hz refresh rate offers a great balance that makes this productivity-oriented monitor an excellent choice for casual gaming as well.

The colors on this screen are vividly bright and rich, just as you would find on a top-quality OLED display. The contrast is spot-on. Compared to some other leading monitors, this one leans slightly towards cooler tones, but the color balance remains consistent across different brightness settings.

The Dell S3225QC almost reached, but didn’t quite meet, the 99% DCI-P3 color gamut that Dell advertised (it achieved 98%), and it certainly covers at least 100% of the sRGB spectrum. Despite this slight discrepancy, it remains a display that is accurate with colors, suitable for content creation.

It’s no shock that a top-tier, contemporary OLED screen performs well, and Dell even offers a 3-year warranty for the S3225QC (which includes protection against burn-in issues). Now, let’s discuss the soundbar.

A 25-watt speaker system delivers significantly greater sound power compared to most speakers, including many TVs. Right away, it offers a superior listening experience, boasting louder volumes, clearer sounds even at high levels, and enhanced bass compared to similar products on the market.

With the Dell S3225QC, I found it effortless to immerse myself in music for extended periods without any issues related to its built-in speakers – something not common among many displays. Moreover, Dell incorporates artificial intelligence, a proximity sensor, and beamforming technology in this model to offer spatial audio that adapts to your movement, providing an exceptional listening experience.

As a tech-loving individual, I can attest that true surround sound is an immersive auditory journey, but it’s crucial to note its sensitivity to positioning. The Dell S3225QC has a unique feature where it can sense your location and dynamically adjust the audio output to ensure you remain at the heart of the action, creating a truly captivating listening experience.

The concept is intriguing, and rightfully so, it functions well. You can perceive a fleeting moment of pause when you make a movement, as the S3225QC alters its directional speakers to suit your position. And indeed, it does adapt to you.

If you prefer, you’re welcome to turn off the spatial audio. The speakers will still deliver excellent sound quality, but do keep in mind that it’s an interesting feature, particularly for those who frequently move around their workspace.

The integrated On-Screen Display (OSD) effectively handles your settings, including spatial audio adjustments. Moreover, the monitor’s controls located at the back are straightforward to locate and conveniently accessible.

Alternatively, you might opt to install the Dell Display and Peripheral Manager to enhance your user experience. I’ve developed a fondness for this software due to its sleek design and user-friendly interface. Yet, it falls short in certain aspects compared to the On-Screen Display (OSD). Specifically, it lacks controls and information regarding the care settings for OLED panels, which are available on the OSD.

Dell S3225QC review: What I don’t like

1. The default brightness is relatively dim, maxing out at 250 nits, which some users might find insufficient.
2. While using an OLED display, you may occasionally encounter certain OLED care features that can unintentionally interfere with the overall performance. For instance, pixel refresh functions might cause minor inconveniences.

The information provided isn’t particularly novel, and much of it doesn’t matter to a lot of purchasers. However, the main issue with the S3225QC lies in its limited connectivity options. To be specific, you’ll only find one HDMI 2.1 port, one USB Type-C video port, and two USB Type-C data ports. Unfortunately, there are no DisplayPort options, no USB Type-A ports, and no audio passthrough available on this model.

This monitor’s USB-C video port offers up to 90 watts of power delivery, while each data port, including one concealed beneath the monitor, provides approximately 15 watts for charging. However, it’s important to note that this monitor doesn’t serve as a central hub for all your devices and accessories, and it does not support Keyboard, Video, Mouse (KVM) functionality.

Additionally, while it’s worth mentioning, the spatial audio function may seem somewhat like a novelty or additional feature. Earlier, I expressed that it’s an impressive addition, but I don’t believe it should be the primary factor influencing your decision to purchase the Dell S3225QC monitor. Instead, focus on its large, high-quality OLED screen and superior audio capabilities. The surround sound experience, while noteworthy, is not the main selling point; rather, it offers a slight enhancement to your listening experience.

• You need a lot of ports, especially for connecting multiple devices.

Many monitors focus more on visual aspects and overlook the quality of their built-in speakers, with those that do equip them often suffering from poor, tinny sound. Finding a monitor with excellent audio to match its high-quality display is uncommon. However, the Dell 32 Plus 4K QD-OLED Monitor (S3225QC) is an exception and offers a superior listening experience in addition to its top-notch visuals.

This 4K, 120Hz QD-OLED display on the Dell S3225QC is stunning, striking a great balance between content creation, productivity, and gaming applications. Overall, this monitor is thoughtfully designed, and its price seems fair considering its features.

Despite boasting several impressive features, this monitor falls short when it comes to connectivity options, as it only provides two display inputs and two USB ports. The lack of an HDMI port may deter many potential buyers, even if other aspects of the monitor are top-notch.
