For several months now, it appears that the user experience on YouTube has been declining noticeably. In response, Google has intensified its efforts to combat ad blockers, deliberately reducing the speed of YouTube videos and in some cases preventing them from playing entirely for users who have ad-blocking extensions installed on their devices.
Lately, the video-streaming service has disclosed that it’s revising its monetization regulations. These revisions include tighter controls, primarily focusing on content that is deemed inauthentic according to the YouTube Partner Program’s rules.

Alternatively, Rene Ritchie, YouTube’s Head of Editorial & Creator Liaison, has countered such claims through a recent video update. He clarified that these updates to the monetization policies are merely a minor adjustment to the current rules within YouTube’s Partner Program.
Ritchie elaborated that the revised guidelines aim to more effectively detect mass-produced or repetitive material, which he clarified has been barred from monetization for quite some time because many viewers typically view it as spam. He added that original and genuine content has always been essential for creators on YouTube.
According to YouTube:
Starting on July 15, 2025, YouTube will revise its policies to help distinguish automated and repetitive content more effectively. This revision aims to align with the current definition of ‘inauthentic’ content.
It remains uncertain what exactly the revised policies encompass and which types of content are eligible for monetization. The rise of advanced AI systems such as OpenAI’s Sora and Google’s Veo has sparked growing worries about AI-created content, particularly in this context.
