Stalker Trilogy fixes the issue that made me melt my PC with infinite quicksaves and repairs the blurry textures that have blighted players for months

Following the revolution, quicksaves will function differently: instead of a single slot that keeps updating itself, there will be several slots available. The oldest one will be overwritten when you reach your limit with a new save. Additionally, you’ll have the freedom to decide how many of these slots you want active at any given time. If you prefer having 100 running quicksaves, feel free to do so. Similarly, autosaves will also work based on this system.

In essence, an overabundance of something good was problematic, as demonstrated by the Stalker remasters when they launched in May. The enhanced re-releases of the original X-Ray-engine games encountered an issue where your save files would pile up without limit. By the end of my gaming session with Shadow of Chornobyl, I had accumulated over 200 saves stored somewhere on my computer, and simply attempting to access the Load Game menu made the game run sluggishly, almost as if it were intoxicated.

Starting from version 1.2, which was launched yesterday, the quicksave limitation in the trilogy is now strictly set at 15 saves. Fortunately, my extensive collection of previous saves remains unaffected, preventing any potential damage to my system.

Beyond this, GSC asserts they’ve discovered a solution for the image blurriness problem that apparently plagued many players’ devices (a problem I somehow managed to avoid entirely), which has been one of the remasters’ most persistent issues since its launch. So far, it seems that the fix is indeed effective.

Apart from this change, let’s improve some issues. The three Stalkers should experience fewer crashes, less bugging out, and smoother gameplay compared to earlier versions. I’ve included detailed notes below, but I’d like to highlight two key points: A-Life combat should be a bit more stable now, and GSC has reinstated commands that allow you to navigate the map freely. This is quite useful: occasionally, items and caches get disoriented and land in spots where our human reach is limited. Such is life within the Zone.
