Spielberg directs Nolan’s Interstellar

Spielberg initially planned to direct the film and had been involved for about a year. He spent considerable time at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, consulting with scientists and aerospace engineers. He even hired Jonathan Nolan, Chris Nolan’s brother, to write the first two drafts, but it didn’t quite work out. Jonah, a colleague, predicted that Chris would take on the project if Spielberg decided to move on, and he was right. As soon as Spielberg stepped away, Chris Nolan quickly signed on. Spielberg believes that ‘Interstellar’ ultimately became a better film under Chris Nolan’s direction than it would have been with him at the helm.
