Pump.fun exploiter claims he was arrested in UK and now on bail

As a researcher, I find the case of Jarett Dunn, the alleged perpetrator of the $1.9 million exploit on memecoin creation and trading platform pump.fun, both intriguing and concerning. Based on the available information, it appears that Dunn has confessed to the crime and was arrested and charged in the United Kingdom. He is currently on bail and being kept in a hospital for mental health evaluation.

A previous employee of the memecoin creation and trading platform pump.fun asserts that he has been taken into custody, formally accused, and released on bail in the United Kingdom. (Note: This paraphrase aims to maintain a clear and conversational tone while preserving the original meaning.)

On May 16th, the user “STACCoverflow” identified as Jarett Dunn admitted to orchestrating the attack that pump.fun accuses of exploiting a privileged position to gain withdraw authority and breach the protocol’s security.

As a researcher examining the May 18 posts on a particular X account, I came across Dunn’s claims where he asserted that he had spent the night in custody due to allegations of embezzling $2 million. He also mentioned a plan to steal an extra $80 million and was later released on bail while being placed under mental health evaluation.

Dunn stated that he’s currently hospitalized and communicating through an iPad provided by the hospital. He mentioned concerns about his mental well-being, indicating it might not be suitable for him to undergo a police interrogation in the future, should his condition improve after bail.

Dunn, a Canadian citizen, mentioned that his family received an email from the local embassy providing a roster of lawyers. However, he expressed that he hasn’t been able to contact these legal professionals yet since “two out of five” of his devices have been confiscated.

He mentioned that he hadn’t given up his passport, and no one warned him against departing from the country despite it being prohibited.

According to reports from another user on The Rollup, Dunn allegedly mentioned in a message that he is required to go back to a police station on August 15th. Additionally, it’s been suggested that a private intelligence firm has been engaged to locate Dunn in London.

In a previous post on X, Dunn urged U.K. residents to report a local business to the authorities, which he accused of being a “pump and dump” scheme. He mentioned that his bail restrictions prevent him from contacting the company and its chief executive.

Private intelligence firm, Pump.fun, failed to provide a response after being reached out for comment regarding their alleged role in locating Dunn.
