As a huge fan of manga and anime, I’m absolutely thrilled to see Yusuke Murata’s tribute art for Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto! Murata has an impressive background, having created the popular series One-Punch Man and Eyeshield 21. Eyeshield 21, in particular, holds a special place in my heart as it was a major hit back in the early 2000s when I was first getting into manga. The American football manga ran for an impressive length of time with Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, and it’s hard to believe that this year marks its 21st anniversary!
As a big fan of Yusuke Murata’s artwork, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news with you all! The talented artist behind hits like “One-Punch Man” and “Eyeshield 21,” Murata himself, has recently unveiled some stunning new art as a tribute to Masashi Kishimoto’s iconic “Naruto” series. Though Murata may now be renowned for his work on “One-Punch Man,” let us not forget that he made quite an impact years ago with “Eyeshield 21.” Partnering with Riichiro Inagaki, they created a captivating American football manga that enjoyed a prolonged run and successful anime adaptation during its prime.
In 2002, “Eyeshield 21” made its debut in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. This year marks the manga’s 21st anniversary, and to commemorate this milestone, a special artbook has been released in Japan. Murata, the creator of “Eyeshield 21,” has contributed a significant amount of artwork for the publication. As a tribute to other popular Shonen series and their creators, Murata has shared his unique interpretations. One such sketch unveiled is his rendition of Masashi Kishimoto’s iconic “Naruto” character. You can find Murata’s take on the renowned ninja in the image below.

Where to Find Eyeshield 21
Written originally by Riichiro Inagaki, the creator of “Dr. Stone,” and illustrated by Yusuke Murata, the artist behind “One-Punch Man,” “Eyeshield 21” can be a challenge to read the entire manga series due to its physical volumes being currently available for purchase. However, an option to legally catch up with it online is not yet accessible. Fortunately, you can still enjoy the anime adaptation of “Eyeshield 21,” which is now streaming on Crunchyroll.
In the initial installment of “Eyeshield 21” manga, Sena Kobayakawa, a timid boy who’s been tormented through his school years, makes a firm resolution to avoid bullying in his upcoming high school tenure. However, his resolve is challenged as the malevolent captain of the football team targets him for his remarkable agility.
Regarding “One-Punch Man,” Season 3 of the anime is currently being produced, but a specific release date or window has not been disclosed yet for the upcoming episodes as of this writing. Animation production for the new season will once again be led by J.C. Staff, with Chikashi Kubota, Shinjiro Kuroda, and Ryosuka Shirakawa collaborating on character design. Tomohiro Suzuki is in charge of series composition, while Makoto Miyazaki will be responsible for composing the music.
