As a longtime fan of The Legend of Zelda series, I am beyond excited for the upcoming release of “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.” This game holds special significance to me not only because it’s a new entry in my beloved franchise but also due to Princess Zelda taking center stage as the main playable protagonist.
In a surprising turn for the beloved “Zelda” franchise, “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom” stands out as an highly anticipated release. This isn’t just due to it being a new “Zelda” game or a traditional entry in the series (something many weren’t anticipating). What sets it apart is its innovative twist – Princess Zelda herself takes center stage as the primary playable character, marking the first time this occurs in a mainline game. However, even though she’s the leading lady, it appears that Link, who typically holds the spotlight in the series, will still share some of it with her.
According to the ESRB’s latest rating for the game, Link remains as a playable character in the upcoming action-adventure title.
In this adventure game, you play as Zelda on a mission to heal rifts in Hyrule and save Link. From an angled view above, explore diverse landscapes and encounter enemies, including humans and creatures. As Link, engage in combat using a sword and arrows; Zelda summons magical beings for battle with her wand. Certain foes can be burned to defeat, while others vanish when conquered. Battles can get chaotic as multiple adversaries attack at once.
It’s clear that the game doesn’t provide many details about the extent of Link’s playable part. We likely begin by controlling him during the prologue, but afterward, Zelda takes over as the main character, and she focuses on rescuing Link. However, this is merely an assumption, so be cautious.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom launces for the Nintendo Switch on September 26.
