How Netflix’s Remake of an Action Thriller Classic Could Run for Five Seasons (And Get Its Answer to Reacher)

Netflix’s newest popular series, the action-thriller Man on Fire, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, started as a novel. While many remember the 2004 film with Denzel Washington, the series is actually based on the 1980 book by A. J. Quinnell. The Netflix adaptation takes some significant liberties with the original story, but it still centers around the character of Creasy (known as Marcus in the book and John in both the series and the movie). Interestingly, the book offers a roadmap for future storylines, as Man on Fire is the first in a series. The following may contain spoilers for the Man on Fire series.

Recently, a sequel was announced, and last year, a new short film titled Debut: A Kpop Demon Hunters Story was also announced, although we don’t yet know when it will be released.

Unexpectedly, Hulu also released a secret prequel episode called “Gary.” No one saw it coming, but once fans noticed it on the list of episodes, it became the main topic of conversation.
