Nintendo Switch Horror Game Emio "Probably Not" Being Developed by Bloober Team

As a long-time gamer and follower of the industry, I’m always excited when a new horror game is announced, especially when it’s being published by a major player like Nintendo. The teaser for Emio really piqued my interest, and the rumors that it might be a collaboration between Nintendo and Bloober Team only fueled my curiosity further.

Last week, a brief trailer emerged for the upcoming M-rated horror game, “Emio,” which is scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch. Ever since the announcement of this game, Nintendo has remained tight-lipped about it, fueling much conjecture among fans. Some of this debate has centered around the identity of “Emio’s” developer, with some assuming that it’s a joint effort between Nintendo and Bloober Team. However, in a recent episode of IGN’s NVC podcast, it was disclosed that reliable sources indicate that “Emio” is “likely not” being produced by Bloober Team anymore. Unfortunately, the podcast hosts didn’t share any details about who else could be working on this game.

If you’re not familiar with Bloober Team, this Polish game developer is known for creating horror games such as “Layers of Fear,” “The Medium,” and the upcoming remake of “Silent Hill 2.” With such a background, Bloober Team appeared to be a likely choice for developing “Emio” since Nintendo has collaborated with various companies during the Switch era, ranging from large corporations like Ubisoft to smaller teams like Forever Entertainment SA. However, considering Bloober Team’s current workload, it isn’t surprising that someone else is handling the development of “Emio.”

When Nintendo eventually unveils the enigmatic project named “Emio“, it will be intriguing to discover the identity of its developer. For over a year now, Nintendo has adopted an unconventional approach in keeping quiet about their developers prior to releases. Instead, they let the games themselves generate curiosity among players, only revealing the studios behind the scenes once the end credits have been displayed. This method has sparked dissatisfaction among some, but it also enables Nintendo to avoid any pre-existing biases towards specific development teams. However, given that the subject matter of “Emio” appears somewhat uncharacteristic for a game produced by Nintendo, this situation might be an exception.

As an avid fan, I’m thrilled by the buzz surrounding Nintendo’s recent 15-second teaser for Emio. Though we’re still in the dark about when they’ll reveal more substantial information, the trailer has certainly sparked intrigue and conversation among fans like me. Here’s hoping that Nintendo won’t keep us on the edge of our seats for too much longer and share some concrete details soon.
