Cody Rhodes “Hated” Young Bucks’ Narrative About His AEW Tenure

Cody Rhodes "Hated" Young Bucks' Narrative About His AEW Tenure

As a dedicated fan of professional wrestling and someone who closely follows Cody Rhodes’ career, I can’t help but feel that there is more to the story behind his departure from All Elite Wrestling (AEW) than what has been publicly shared. Rhodes’ decision to leave AEW, where he helped build a formidable wrestling promotion, and return to WWE feels like a personal blow to me as a fan.

Cody Rhodes has consistently avoided speaking negatively about All Elite Wrestling (AEW) since his departure earlier this year. After leaving the company he co-founded in early 2022, Rhodes chose to rejoin WWE at WrestleMania 38. Since then, reporters have asked him numerous questions about the reasons behind his exit from AEW. Instead of providing specific details, Rhodes has described his decision as a “personal matter” and expressed appreciation for his experiences with Tony Khan and The Elite during his time in AEW. Rhodes also reacted to Toni Storm’s teasing of his potential WWE WrestleMania 40 celebration by requesting that neither he nor his wife be mentioned, and has maintained a positive attitude towards AEW.

The American Nightmare took issue with one particular narrative about his time with AEW.

As a gamer, I’d put it this way: During an interview with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, I, Cody Rhodes, the current WWE Champion, shared that I wasn’t entirely thrilled with how The Young Bucks depicted my AEW signing in their publication.

“In The Young Bucks’ book, it was mentioned that I was the last one to sign up for AEW. I find that disappointing because this detail can be a major turnoff for some viewers. Unaware AEW supporters may unintentionally drive potential fans away by highlighting my supposed insignificance during the formation of the company.”

Rhodes mentioned that it was one of his own team members who initially arranged a meeting with AEW President and CEO Tony Khan. This encounter paved the way for the Bucks, Kenny Omega, and other key figures to subsequently meet with him as well.

In my perspective, it seems that the individual speaking, named Rhodes, was sharing some insights about his personal connection with Tony and how he came to be a part of AEW (All Elite Wrestling). He mentioned that he was not present when Tony was first introduced to the group, but rather joined later in a vetting process. However, he acknowledged that technically speaking, he was indeed the last person to officially sign on with the company. Although there might have been differences in thoughts or opinions among the team members regarding Tony’s addition, it is essential to remember that everyone had a role to play in this process. Rhodes also hinted that when he writes his book, he will share his unique perspective and experiences from his point of view. Overall, it appears that Rhodes was sharing an interesting anecdote about his involvement with AEW and Tony’s arrival, emphasizing the collaborative nature of their team dynamics.
