BBC's John Hunt Speaks Out After Family Killed in Crossbow Attack

As a lifestyle expert, I cannot help but be deeply moved by the heartbreaking story of John Hunt and his family. The tragic loss of his wife Carol, daughters Hannah and Louise in such a senseless and violent way is unimaginable. My heart goes out to John and his surviving daughter Amy, who have shown remarkable strength and resilience in the face of this devastating tragedy.

John Hunt is grateful for support in the face of a personal tragedy.

As an obsessed fan, I can’t help but share my deepest condolences after the heart-wrenching tragedy that struck the family of my beloved BBC journalist. I’ve always admired his work and felt a connection to him through the screen. July 9th was a fateful day when his wife Carol, at 61, and daughters Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25, were cruelly taken from us in a devastating crossbow attack within their own home. John and his surviving daughter Amy have bravely chosen to reach out to the public during this most difficult time. Their message is a testament to their strength and resilience in the face of unimaginable loss. I stand with them in solidarity and send all my love and support.

The BBC spoke on their behalf, expressing gratitude for the thoughtful messages and encouragement they’ve received in the past few days. These heartfelt expressions have brought significant solace and for that, they are deeply appreciative.

According to Matt Chapman, who passed on a message from John, the racing commentator expressed his deep appreciation for the resilience of his sole remaining daughter during this unfortunate and tragic event.

I’ve been deeply moved by my eldest daughter Amy’s resilience and unwavering support during these trying times. Her ability to keep things under control in the face of adversity is something I’m striving to emulate. Despite the unfathomable hardships we’ve faced, the kindness and encouragement we’ve received have been a beacon of hope. Some messages of support are still waiting to be read, but each one serves as a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there is always a glimmer of light.

Three days after his talk with John, Matt revealed the gist of their discussion: the journalist had encouraged him to value time with dear ones.

Matt shared with the BBC on July 16 what his friend had told him: “You never know when it might be the last time you see your loved ones, so cherish each day.”

“Matt expressed that family held deep significance for his friend, John, who cherished his family circle deeply.”

On July 9, an unfortunate incident occurred at the Hunt residence. Three women, identified as Carol, Hannah, and Louise, suffered severe injuries. The local law enforcement made this information known to the public during a press briefing with heavy hearts. Regrettably, all three ladies succumbed to their wounds on the spot.

On July 11, two days after the incident, police apprehended Kyle Clifford, a 26-year-old individual whom they previously identified as a person of interest during a press conference.

As an obsessed fan, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the aerial footage showing the police carrying Kyle on a stretcher through the solemn stillness of the cemetery. My heart raced as I waited for updates from the Hertfordshire Constabulary. “He is receiving medical treatment after being found with injuries,” they assured us in their statement, their words offering a glimmer of hope amidst my fears. Thankfully, no shots were fired by the police during this harrowing incident.

TopMob News previously reached out to local law enforcement for comment but had not heard back.

I, as a devoted follower of the latest news, can confirm that on July 16th, Kyle’s condition at the hospital was reported as still injurious, with no report of him being questioned by the Hertfordshire Constabulary yet.

After the heart-wrenching loss of John and Amy’s beloved family in Enfield, I, along with many others – friends, relatives, and neighbors – have paid my respects by leaving condolence messages and beautiful flowers at their doorstep.

Before the BBC’s Euro 2024 broadcast on July 10, they expressed their sadness over the passing of John.

As an obsessed fan, I’d put it this way: “John Hunt is more than just a colleague and friend to me and the current 5 Live sport team. He’s been a cherished part of our radio family for the past two decades. For those of us who have had the pleasure of working with him, as well as the countless listeners who have enjoyed his brilliant commentaries, John is an irreplaceable figure in our community. On behalf of everyone at 5 Live sport, I want to express our deepest love, thoughts, and support for John and his family during this challenging time.”
