One advantage of having John Woo direct a remake is that we can expect his iconic filmmaking techniques. This includes dramatic slow motion and intense fight scenes, which are highly sought-after on social media. The screenplay for “The Killer” was written by Oscar-winner Brian Helgeland in collaboration with Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken. The production of this film has had a lengthy history. In the 1990s, plans were made to adapt it into a Western, but these plans stalled due to creative differences. Previously, Lupita N’yongo was set to star in the remake, but she eventually left the project. Emmanuel then took on the role, and despite numerous changes, the film is shaping up well.

In his description of the upcoming movie, Peacock shares that it is produced by an Oscar winner (for “Oppenheimer”), featuring Emmy-nominated Nathalie Emmanuel as Zee, a notorious assassin famed in Paris’ underworld as the Queen of the Dead. However, during an assignment from her enigmatic mentor and overseer, Sam Worthington (“Avatar”), Zee defies orders by sparing a blind woman (Diana Silvers, “Ma,” “Booksmart”) in a nightclub. This act of mercy disrupts her alliances, draws the interest of a shrewd detective, Omar Sy (Golden Globe-nominated for “Jurassic World” franchises and “Lupin”), and thrusts Zee into a perilous criminal plot that will put her on a collision course with her own past.
As a fan, I’m thrilled to share that this film boasts an impressive international ensemble. Among them are Eric Cantona, a renowned French actor from The Fragile Colossus and Elizabeth; Said Taghmaoui, known for his roles in Wonder Woman and The Kite Runner; Tch?ky Karyo, who has graced our screens in Nikita and A Very Long Engagement; and Gr?gory Montel, a familiar face from Call My Agent! and Thirst for Life. Furthermore, we have the talented Angeles Woo from Silent Night and Manhunt, and Aur?lia Agel, who has captured our hearts in Halo and Black Widow.
