Hit-Monkey Season 2 Reviews Generally Positive

Hit-Monkey Season 2 Reviews Generally Positive

As a long-time gamer and animation enthusiast, I’m thrilled that the second season of Hit-Monkey has finally arrived on Hulu. I’ve been following this quirky Marvel series since its inception ten years ago, pitching it to various studios and executives, only to be met with skepticism. But the creators Josh Gordon and Will Speck persisted, and their vision for a monkey-ghost duo of assassins has finally come to life.

The new season of “Hit-Monkey” is out now, and early critic responses have been favorable for this animated Marvel series. Although it was originally part of an ambitious plan by Marvel Television to explore adult animation, many projects under this umbrella were scrapped prior to production. Remarkably, “Hit-Monkey” not only made it to air but has also been renewed for a second season – making it the sole survivor among the four initially announced shows.

For approximately a decade, Josh Gordon and his team have passionately advocated for Marvel to produce “Hit-Monkey.” In 2021, they shared their enthusiasm with ComicBook. Each meeting with Marvel resulted in us saying, “You really should create Hit-Monkey. It’s amazing,” until they responded, “We understand your enthusiasm. You’re not the only ones who have pitched this idea to us.” Hit-Monkey has a dedicated fanbase.

In the second season of “Hit-Monkey,” Leslie Jones, Ally Maki, Cristin Milioti, Olivia Munn, Fred Tatasciore, and Jason Sudeikis lend their voices. Co-created and overseeing production are Josh Gordon and Will Speck. The animated sequences for this series are brought to life by Floyd County Productions, under the auspices of 20th Television Animation.

Decider

The creators, Will Speck and Josh Gordon, along with their writing team, have improved the blend of humor, violence, and character growth in their work. While there are occasional instances of unnecessarily inserted pop-culture references, such as Hit-Monkey scaling a building instead of shooting the doorman, and Bryce being labeled as “Tom Cruising it,” these moments are few and far between. Overall, the humor fits well with the characters and their actions.

In summary, the second installment of Marvel’s “Hit-Monkey” series matches the first in levels of violence and comedy. If you were a fan of the initial season, then this one is sure to please. The storyline delves deeper into the supernatural realm, but if you accepted a monkey and ghost teaming up to eliminate criminals, then you’re likely to continue along for the ride. This new season may not attract new viewers, but it’s also not likely to lose any existing ones.

As a gamer, I’ve played through the second season of Marvel’s Hit-Monkey, and let me tell you, the setting change from Japan to an ambiguous New York was an intriguing move. However, despite introducing elements of comedy and drama, this installment fails to deliver a substantial storyline. The remaining characters seem disconnected and aimless, while the new additions feel indistinguishable from one another. But hey, there’s potential for a more engaging narrative in future seasons, so here’s hoping they step up their game!

In the second season of “Hit-Monkey,” there are plenty of samurai battles and magic, providing more exciting action than before. However, it’s the storyline involving Bryce and Iris that truly resonates. Despite any criticisms, “Hit-Monkey” season 2 effectively draws in new audiences while keeping its dedicated fans hooked, resulting in a generally satisfying experience.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve got to admit that Hit-Monkey’s second season didn’t quite live up to my expectations. Although it was brimming with outlandish ideas that initially had me hooked, the execution left me feeling underwhelmed and bored. The plotting just felt too predictable and lacked the stylish flair and sharp scripting that made the first season so intelligent and engaging.
