DC All In: Joshua Williamson Teases the Future of Superman After Absolute Power

DC All In: Joshua Williamson Teases the Future of Superman After Absolute Power

As a long-time DC Comics fan and avid gamer, I’m absolutely thrilled by the latest developments in the DC Universe, particularly with regards to my favorite character, Superman. Joshua Williamson‘s commitment to being a good steward of this iconic hero is music to my ears. I’ve grown up reading Superman comics, and the prospect of new stories featuring the Man of Steel, especially with a mysterious new Superwoman and the return of Doomsday, is beyond exciting.

After surpassing the “Absolute Power” crossover and DC’s upcoming line-wide project called “DC All In” this fall, Joshua Williamson assures us that Superman will play a significant role in the near future of the DC Universe. He is committed to being a responsible caretaker of the iconic character. Despite numerous alterations on the horizon for DC’s superheroes, Williamson vowed during the All In YouTube broadcast that he would carry on as the writer for “Superman.” Dan Mora, who previously worked on “World’s Finest,” will assume the main writing position for “Superman.” In this new role, Williamson intends to pen some of his most ambitious stories yet.

A major development to look forward to is the arrival of a new enigmatic Superwoman character, whose past is shrouded in mystery and will be a intriguing puzzle for fans and Superman himself to unravel. Additionally, Williamson intends to incorporate Doomsday into the storyline, promising some thrilling action scenes that are sure to leave an impact.

In the future storyline beyond “All In,” Williamson shared, Superman will play a pivotal role. We have planned significant new tales for “Superman.” Among these developments, we will present a new Superwoman, whose identity and origin of powers remain shrouded in mystery. Furthermore, Doomsday is set to make a comeback. As a huge fan of “Death of Superman,” I’m thrilled about the opportunity to work with Doomsday and create large-scale action sequences. The upcoming storyline for “Superman” will be one of my most ambitious projects at DC.

As a gamer, I’m excited to share that come September, DC’s “All In” #1 will mark the beginning of an epic event. Then, in October, all DC books will join in on the action. “All-In,” penned by Scott Snyder and Williamson, is a unique flipbook experience. One side will be illustrated by Daniel Sampere, while the other comes to life through Wes Craig’s art.

Superman holds greater significance for DC’s identity today than he has in a long while. In the upcoming year, there are multiple live-action and animated adaptations of the character set to release – “Superman & Lois” TV series (ending its run in 2025), “My Adventures With Superman” animated series, and James Gunn’s feature film. Given this burst of activity, it is understandable that DC would aim to increase Superman’s presence in their comic books.

Expect more news about all of this coming up at Comic Con International in San Diego next week.
