As a dedicated gamer and avid fan of animated series, I was deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Lance Reddick last year. His sudden departure left many projects incomplete, one of which was “Kite Man: Hell Yeah!” on Max, where he voiced Lex Luthor. Having followed his career for years, I can’t help but feel fortunate that this talented actor graced our screens with his take on this iconic character, even if it was only for a season.
Last year, the unexpected death of versatile actor Lance Reddick surprised Hollywood, leaving several projects incomplete. One of these was “Kite Man: Hell Yeah!”, an animated series by Max, where Reddick voiced Lex Luthor, succeeding Giancarlo Esposito’s portrayal in “Harley Quinn.” Both shows share a continuity, as well as a production schedule and crew, which may result in casting changes. It doesn’t get much better than having an actor of Reddick’s caliber step into the role of Lex Luthor, even for just one season.
As a huge fan of the hit show “Orange is the New Black,” I was deeply saddened to hear that Pablo Schreiber’s co-star Bradley Reddick passed away before finishing his role as fan-favorite character, Dale “Pancake” Mumford. Despite this tragic turn of events, it’s heartening to know that Reddick managed to complete almost the entire season before his untimely demise. This posthumous appearance will undoubtedly be a bittersweet moment for fans as they get to see more of Pancake’s storyline.
After he passed away, several of Reddick’s projects saw the light of day. I was thrilled to see “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” and “Shirley” hit the screens. However, I’m eagerly anticipating his last on-screen performance in the “John Wick: Ballerina” spinoff.
Lorey shared with ComicBook, “He was exceptional and dear to us all. We admired working with him and appreciated his unique portrayal of Lex. Giancarlo Esposito delivered a businessman-like Lex which we found fascinating. However, Lance brought an extra layer of seriousness and complexity that resonated with us deeply. Sadly, it came as a surprise when he passed away. Fortunately, he had finished recording most of his episodes, allowing us to share his brilliant work with the audience.”
“Kite Man: Hell Yes!” Introducing the talented cast: Matt Oberg as Kite Man, Stephanie Hsu as Golden Glider, James Adomian as Bane, Natasia Demetriou as Malice, Janelle James as Queen of Fables, Jonathan Banks as Noonan, Keith David as Darkseid, Michael Imperioli as Joe/Moe Dubelz, Rory Scovel as Gus the Goon, Lance Reddick as Lex Luthor, and Judith Light as Helen Villigan.
Dean Lorey, Justin Halpern, Patrick Shumacker, Kaley Cuoco, and Sam Register serve as the executive producers of this project. The characters hail from DC Comics. In collaboration with Warner Bros. Animation, Delicious Non-Sequitur, Lorey Stories, and Yes, Norman Productions are responsible for its production.
As a passionate gamer, I’m thrilled to share that starting on Thursday, July 18th, I’ll be able to watch the latest instalments of “Kite Man: Hell Yeah!” exclusively on Max. Every Thursday, I’ll get my fix of new episodes, keeping me hooked and entertained!
