Splitgate 2 Announced with First Trailer

As a long-time fan of the original Splitgate, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nostalgia at the announcement of Splitgate 2. I remember back in the day when the game was still in its infancy, created by two ambitious students with big dreams. The game quickly gained a dedicated following due to its unique blend of portal-based combat and sci-fi shooter elements, providing a fresh take on the genre and giving Halo and other similar games some serious competition.

On Thursday, 1047 Games unveiled “Splitgate 2,” a sequel to the portal-shooter game originally launched several years ago. Previously hinted at through cryptic teasers, this updated version is anticipated to challenge popular sci-fi shooters like Halo, and is slated for release in 2025 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC. Players eager to wishlist the game or stay informed can check out its dedicated pages now.

As a long-time fan of fast-paced multiplayer games, I’m absolutely thrilled to share my excitement about the first trailer for Splitgate 2! Having spent countless hours mastering the original Splitgate, the visuals in this cinematic trailer instantly resonated with me.

Put on your gear and step into the thrilling battles of Splitgate 2, the groundbreaking 4v4 free-to-play shooter that sets a new standard for being the best in this sci-fi arena game. Decide on your faction, personalize your weapons, hone your portal abilities, and team up with friends as you strive for victory in a cosmic battlefield. Join forces or go solo – the choice is yours!

Initially, the early version of Splitgate was created as a modest project by 1047 Games founders Ian Proulx and Nicholas Bagamian while they were still in school. Over the years, the game gained significant popularity and growing player base. However, despite its success, the creators ultimately chose to cease development to focus on a new game set within the Splitgate universe. This decision came as a shock to many given the game’s achievements, but 1047 Games felt they couldn’t create the desired game experience by expanding upon the original foundation that was built by only a small team.

“Years ago, I remarked that we’re not only dealing with emergencies by bailing water out, but also ensuring the satisfaction of our passengers, and at the same time, aiming to transform our vessel into something more powerful and advanced, like a rocket ship.”

Even though the release of Splitgate 2 is next year, you can check out its official website now to get prepared. There, you’ll discover an app to download, which offers you the chance to read a fresh companion comic and begin amassing rewards for Splitgate 2 before its launch.
