Additionally, there are rumors of a remake of the iconic 1990s film, “Backdraft,” with Powell set to star. Brian Grazer from Imagine Entertainment recently shared with CNBC that this classic, featuring Kurt Russell and William Baldwin as firefighter brothers and rivals, is in development for a modern retelling.
“Grazer described how Entertainment, for us, has consistently fallen into the category of productions that have a strong potential for success in cinemas. This is beneficial as we’ve accumulated over 100 brands throughout our 30-year history, such as ‘Backdraft,’ which I’ll be working on with Glen Powell soon, or the upcoming collaboration with Disney-Fox on ’24’.”
In the late ’90s and early 2000s formats, the stakes are higher than ever for streamers and studios. They’re more cautious in their choices now, preferring established brands that have a strong following. Our approach is to add a fresh twist or intriguing casting to these recognized titles. Glen Powell To Star in The Running Man Remake:
As a film enthusiast with a particular interest in remakes and adaptations, I find it fascinating to see how different versions of the same story can bring new perspectives and interpretations to the table. Having grown up watching movies from various eras and genres, I’ve come to appreciate the unique contributions each artist brings to their craft.
Powell shared that he won’t be attending classes with other students on a routine basis. Instead, he will return to campus only when necessary to complete his degree requirements and film “The Running Man” in the fall. He will be based in London for the production but will come back periodically for proctored exams. The university is accommodating him through distance learning, allowing him to attend classes via Zoom. He plans to visit campus a few times during the semester for his exams and other obligations. Edgar has been supportive of Powell finishing his degree amidst his busy movie schedule.
