As a longtime Marvel fan and avid gamer with a soft spot for the Ghost Rider series, I’m beyond excited to dive into the newest addition to the Ghost Rider mythos: “Ghost Rider: Robbie Reyes Special” #1. This special issue is not only a celebration of Hispanic and Latin American creators and cultures but also a chance to catch up with one of my favorite characters, Robbie Reyes.
During Hispanic & Latin American Heritage Month, Robbie Reyes takes center stage once more in a new Ghost Rider solo issue. The Ghost Rider franchise boasts a rich history of past and present Spirit of Vengeance bearers, with the latest addition being the villainous Hood. Among the notable hosts is Robbie Reyes, the East Los Angeles street racer. Previously featured in Jason Aaron’s Avengers series, Robbie’s current situation remains unclear since then. This special one-shot aims to reacquaint readers with Robbie and introduce a fresh Ghost Rider.
The upcoming comic Ghost Rider: Robbie Reyes Special #1 is part of Marvel’s Voices series, highlighting diverse creators and themes. Three captivating tales will be penned and illustrated by esteemed artists and newcomers, including Robbie Reyes’ co-creator Felipe Smith. Moreover, this issue introduces Fantasma, the Ghost Rider brought to life by Luciano Vecchio during last year’s New Champions variant cover project, for her Marvel comic book debut.
As a longtime comic book enthusiast with a particular affinity for Marvel’s grittier anti-heroes, I’m thrilled to share my excitement over the latest Ghost Rider news! Marvel has really delivered an intriguing trio of covers for the upcoming #1 issue of Ghost Rider: Robbie Reyes Special.
What is Ghost Rider: Robbie Reyes Special #1 about?
As a passionate Marvel Comics fan, I can’t help but be thrilled about the journey of Robbie Reyes, the East Los Angeles street racer who transformed into the fiery Ghost Rider ten years ago in “All-New Ghost Rider” #1. When he was enveloped by hellfire and bestowed with incredible powers, little did we know that he would become one of the most iconic Ghost Riders in the Marvel Universe and an esteemed Avenger.
Here is a description of the three tales:
- Since the conclusion of Jason Aaron’s run of Avengers, Robbie Reyes has been stranded in the God Quarry! See what he’s been up to there and how his family and friends are dealing with his heroic sacrifice in a story by writer Carlos Hernandez and artist Moises Hidalgo.
- Co-creator Felipe Smith and artist Daniel Bayliss unleash Robbie’s full power against an interdimensional enemy in an uplifting tale of inspiration and heroic destiny!
- Hell breaks loose at the roller derby in the thrilling debut of Fantasma by writer Melissa Flores and Marvel Stormbreaker artist Jan Bazaldua! Meet Isabella “Izzy” Alvarez, a Colombian roller derby champ with a cursed secret, as she teams up with Robbie against a horde of Hellhounds!
The first issue of “Ghost Rider: Robbie Reyes” becomes available for purchase on October 2nd. Take a look at the three different cover options for this comic below.
