For Donald Trump‘s granddaughter Kai Trump, the former president is just a “normal grandpa.”
During the Republican National Convention on July 17, a 17-year-old girl, who is the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump, spoke about her father’s hidden affectionate side. She revealed that when her parents aren’t around, he secretly treats us with candies and sodas. He also takes great pride in our academic achievements, such as making the high honor roll, and happily shares the news with his friends.
She pointed out that her grandfather seldom displays his affectionate side, yet he frequently checks in on her during school hours to discuss her golf progress, sharing his own experiences as well. However, she would need to remind him that she was occupied with education and ask him to wait for a later call.
Instead, Kai admitted that she shares many similarities with the 78-year-old, not just while golfing but also off the course. She playfully teased him by reminding him, “I’m a Trump too,” when he showed signs of overly competitive behavior.
I’m fortunate to have someone constantly motivating me to reach my full potential, as he urges me on. He holds me to a high standard, and although it’s quite a challenge at times, I can only imagine that someday I might match his success.
The 45th American president also plays the role of grandpa for Ivanka Trump’s kids, Arabella (13), Joseph (10), and Theodore (8). Additionally, he is grandpa to Eric Trump’s children, Eric Jr. (6) and Carolina (4).

Eric Trump, born in 1984, is the third-born child of Ivana and Donald. Similar to his older brother, he holds the position of executive vice president at The Trump Organization, having joined the company in 2007. He is married to Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump, and together they have children named Luke and Carolina.
Marla Maples is Donald’s second wife, whom he met while still married to Ivana.
In “Raising Trump,” Ivana mentioned that Marla brought up the affair to her during a visit to Aspen in 1989. However, Marla stated on an episode of ABC’s “Journeys of Faith with Paula Faris” in 2018 that she didn’t view herself as Donald’s mistress at the time. She explained, “I never intended to cause pain. I deeply wished we could have been together after his divorce, but unfortunately, things didn’t work out that way.” Marla and Donald had their daughter Tiffany in 1993 and got married later that year. They announced their separation in 1997 and finalized the divorce in 1999.
After her parents’ divorce, Tiffany Trump and her mother chose to live in California for a more tranquil upbringing. In an interview with People magazine in 2016, she shared, “She wanted me to have a chance at a normal childhood, as normal as possible. I think she did well in that.” Tiffany released her debut single “Like a Bird” in 2011 and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in sociology in 2016. She then pursued a law degree from Georgetown Law School, which she earned in 2020. In 2022, Tiffany Trump married Michael Boulos.
Melania Trump was born in Mesto, Slovenia in 1970, making her the third wife of Donald and the second First Lady hailing from outside the United States. Notably, she is the only First Lady in American history to have become a naturalized U.S. citizen after marriage.
In an interview on “On the Record With Greta Van Susteren” in 2016, Melania shared how she met Donald: “We crossed paths at a high-profile fashion event in New York that my friend had arranged in 1996. That’s where I first encountered him.” Later, they tied the knot in 2005 and welcomed their son Barron the following year.
Born in 2006, Barron Trump is the sole child of Donald and Melania. Although he has led a more secluded life, moving with his parents from New York to Washington D.C., and later to Florida, there were speculations that he might join politics by becoming a delegate for the Republican Party in May 2024 at their National Convention. Nevertheless, Barron declined this opportunity due to previous engagements as communicated through Melania’s office.
