Superman: James Gunn Teases How Much Filming Is Left

As a die-hard DC fan and follower of James Gunn‘s career, I am beyond excited about the ongoing production of his upcoming “Superman” film. The news of completing shooting in Cleveland for exterior shots of Metropolis has only fueled my anticipation further. It’s been quite a long shoot, but knowing that there are still a couple weeks left makes the wait worth it.

James Gunn’s “Superman” film production has been ongoing for several months, marking the first live-action project in Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe. This week, Gunn shared on social media that they have wrapped up filming in Cleveland, Ohio, where they shot exterior scenes of Metropolis. Production on “Superman” is set to continue for a couple more weeks, as announced by Gunn in an update on Threads. Unfortunately, Gunn and the cast won’t be able to attend San Diego Comic-Con this month due to scheduling conflicts with the ongoing production.

“Gunn reports that they haven’t finished filming yet. There are still a few weeks left, and they recently completed filming in Cleveland. It’s a lengthy production process, but they’re nearing the end!”

Superman‘s Cast and Crew

According to DC Studios, Superman recounts the tale of Superman’s quest to harmonize his Kryptonian roots with his upbringing as Clark Kent from Smallville, Kansas. He embodies truth, justice, and a brighter future, shaped by human compassion in a world that considers kindness outdated.

As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled to share that Superman’s upcoming adventure will feature an impressive lineup of talented actors joining the cast. Here’s how it looks from my perspective:

The DC Universe Slate

In the initial lineup of DC Studios’ DC Universe, you’ll find “Superman” set to release in 2025, followed by “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” in 2026. Additionally, there are four untitled films – “The Brave and the Bold,” “Swamp Thing,” and “The Authority” – currently in development. On the small screen, an animated “Creature Commandos” series, the second season of “Peacemaker,” as well as upcoming shows like “Waller,” “Booster Gold,” “Lanterns,” and “Paradise Lost,” are all part of the plan. Reports suggest an animated “Jurassic League” movie and a live-action “Teen Titans” film are under consideration, but neither have been confirmed by DC Studios yet.

In an interview in January 2023, Gunn shared his perspective: “Many believe we’ll resemble Marvel 2.0, but I’ve learned valuable lessons at Marvel. However, there are significant distinctions. Our narrative is a large-scale, interconnected story similar to Marvel’s. But, from the outset, our team of writers has meticulously crafted this tale in its entirety. Additionally, our universe mirrors that of Star Wars or Game of Thrones, with diverse settings, timelines, and morally complex characters.”
