As I delve deeper into the captivating world of Ashlyn and Sophia, two dynamic women whose lives seem to be brimming with excitement and glamour, I can’t help but feel awe-inspired by their experiences. Sophia Bush took Ashlyn Harris by surprise when she made the first move to kick off their romance.
The former “One Tree Hill” actress revealed she invited the soccer player out for a date when she found out their common friends were attempting to match him with someone else instead.
Sophia expressed on her “Work in Progress” podcast’s July 17 episode: “If she’s ready for a date, it’ll be with me, not someone else,” she asserted confidently. “No chance, not a possibility.”
In an interview, the actress portraying a character on “Chicago P.D.” shared Ashlyn’s reaction to being asked out. “She reacted with surprise,” Sophia explained. “She expressed doubt, saying ‘I thought you were straight,’ while I responded with disbelief, pointing out that ‘we’re both single now, what’s stopping us?'”
The 42-year-old went on to say, “We were laughing hysterically because I remarked, ‘I hadn’t considered you an alternative,’ and she replied, ‘Neither had I thought of you that way.'”
Last October, Sophia was first spotted in public with a 38-year-old man, two months following her divorce filing from entrepreneur Grant Hughes after only thirteen months of marriage. Similarly, Ashlyn filed for divorce from soccer star Ali Krieger, her partner of nearly four years and mother of her two children, last September in 2023.
In April, Sophia announced that she identifies as queer and shared that she had started dating Ashlyn. This came about after Sophia invited Ashlyn for a social gathering outside of their usual friend circle.
In her Glamour essay, she described the meal as lasting for approximately four and a half hours and shared that it was one of the most bizarre experiences she had encountered so far.
The two have since offered fans glimpses of their relationship on social media.
Last year, I became fortunate enough to not have to pay for something; it was a gift, Sophia commented on Ashlyn’s Instagram post dedicated to her on July 8. This year, I discovered the most wonderful love in an utterly surprising location.
She went on, “The gift you gave me may forever remain a source of healing. I’m indebted to you for mending my spirit. You made my latest birthday surpass the joy of my first. And with your presence, you brought back the memory of the sound of my heartfelt laughter. You hold the power to enchant. To you, I owe my most cherished gift.”

The pair also spent time with Stephanie Nguyen and Bobby Berk at the star-studded gathering.
At the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in April 2024, Ashlyn and Sophia attended for the first time, walking the red carpet together.
Following the dinner, the couple cozied up at an after-party at the Swiss ambassador’s residence.
Sophia and Ashlyn enjoyed a romantic trip to Paris in May 2024.
