As a long-time wrestling fan and avid gamer, I can’t help but get excited about the upcoming WWE SummerSlam event. The hype surrounding this year’s show is palpable, with several high-profile matches scheduled that promise to deliver thrilling action and intense drama. One of the most anticipated bouts is Rhea Ripley’s challenge against Liv Morgan for the Women’s World Championship.
The WWE SummerSlam is approaching in a few weeks, and it’s undeniable that it will continue to be the must-watch event of the season for wrestling fans. Notable stars like Rhea Ripley are set to make an appearance, with Ripley challenging Liv Morgan for the Women’s World Championship – a title she strongly believes she never truly lost. Unfortunately, CM Punk, who has been injured since January’s Royal Rumble, is still absent from the lineup. Despite this, Punk has remained on TV during his recovery to progress his storylines, most notably with Drew McIntyre. However, as of now, he hasn’t received medical clearance to compete.
If Punk had surgery, his schedule would have suggested a WWE ring return around August, ideally in time for the SummerSlam event. This alignment of events would have been ideal, assuming all went as planned. WWE is optimistic that it will and has begun preparing for Punk’s potential comeback match. Recently, PWInsider reported that Punk was seen at Orlando’s Performance Center, training intensely for his anticipated return to the ring.
Cora Jade posted a TikTok showing her, Punk, and Roxanne Perez resting by the wrestling ring edge following a workout session. Punk wore his kneepads and boots in the clip. Meanwhile, Zachary Wenton of TNA uploaded photos on social media featuring him and Punk, as well as Perez, Ace Steel, and their trainees at Steel’s wrestling school. Wenton captioned the post: “Trained with @CMPunk last night at @acesofsteel School #TheFoundationOfProWrestling.” (Teenage me would be incredibly excited about this; current me shares the same sentiment.)
I was fortunate enough to train with CM Punk at Aces of Steel School last night. As a teenager, I would have been incredibly excited about this opportunity (and I still am today).

At Survivor Series last year, Punk initiated a long-standing rivalry with McIntyre. Since then, they’ve engaged in numerous heated arguments. Punk has interfered in McIntyre’s title fights, preventing him from winning the WWE championship once more. This provocation has enraged “The Scottish Warrior,” who currently faces suspension following his aggressive behavior at Money in the Bank. During this event, Punk physically attacked McIntyre, striking him with a steel chair multiple times and choking him using a cord. The SummerSlam lineup is available below for your perusal.
