Exceptional X-Men Variant Covers Include a Team Up With Godzilla

As a longtime X-Men fan, I’m thrilled to see Marvel’s latest announcement about the new “Exceptional X-Men” series and the addition of Godzilla to one of the variant covers! This title promises to bring back memories of beloved series like “New Mutants” and “Generation X,” and I can’t wait to follow Kitty Pryde and Emma Frost as they mentor a new generation of mutants.

Marvel has revealed fresh variant cover designs for the debut of “Exceptional X-Men” #1, and surprisingly, Godzilla has crashed the photo shoot. This comic marks the conclusion of Marvel’s X-Men: From the Ashes trilogy, which follows the Krakoan saga’s end. The creative duo behind this title is Eve L. Ewing (writer) and Carmen Carnero (artist), who bring us Kitty Pryde and Emma Frost mentoring a new cohort of mutants. For long-time X-Men enthusiasts, titles like “New Mutants” and “Generation X” might ring a bell, and “Exceptional X-Men” is expected to continue their legacy. Eve L. Ewing explained the origin of the title “Exceptional X-Men”: “The name ‘Exceptional X-Men’ stands out among the X-Men titles because it has a nice ring to it. As a poet prior to creating comics, I find it appealing. Moreover, these characters are exceptional in that they don’t carry the heavy burden of history like our main X-Men. They aren’t tied to Krakoa or team politics or the previous mutant era. Instead, they’re just ordinary kids in the Midwest navigating their powers, much like young mutants have done for generations.”

Marvel reveals details on Exceptional X-Men’s new mutants

Three new mutants named Axo, Bronze, and Melee, who will be shaped into X-Men by Kitty Pryde and Emma Frost as the series progresses, were introduced with their character bios in Exceptional X-Men. The press release from Marvel provides details about their real names, mutant abilities, and brief backgrounds. Bronze makes his debut in September’s issue #1 of Exceptional X-Men, while Axo and Melee make their first appearance in October’s issue #2.

Axo’s unique ability lies in sensing and influencing emotions; Bronze possesses the capacity for metal skin; and Melee is gifted with the talent of becoming invisible or passing through objects.
