The Acolyte's Manny Jacinto Recalls the Struggles of Keeping Star Wars Secrets

As a huge fan of “Star Wars” and the latest addition to the galaxy, “The Acolyte,” I was completely captivated by Manny Jacinto‘s performance in the series. The fifth episode brought us a major twist with Qimir being revealed as the masked Stranger, and Jacinto shared an interesting experience during the press tour where he had to keep his own character’s identity a secret.

The final episode of Star Wars: The Acolyte concluded this week, delivering numerous unexpected developments. With unexpected appearances and startling demises, the Disney+ series kept fans guessing. The production team had to exercise caution in revealing spoilers during interviews, but occasionally, errors occurred.

Jacinto admitted, “I’m not comfortable with the limelight and promoting myself. It’s challenging for me to discuss my projects. To cope, I often assume another persona when I’m in these situations. And to make things worse, I find myself needing to fabricate stories. So I thought, ‘What is this new character I need to portray?’ This was an extension of the acting I had already done on ‘The Acolyte.'”

At Star Wars Celebration, there’s a recording of Dafne and Charlie making a mistake and discussing my stunt work. Dafne remarked, “Manny is a stunt master,” but I humbly corrected, “Well, I’m not so sure about that.” After their playful banter, they shared a friendly bond despite portraying adversarial characters in the film.

Jacinto needed to conceal the true identity of his own character while ensuring that major appearances by characters like Yoda remained undisclosed to avoid ruining the surprise for audiences.

“I confirm that I wasn’t informed about Yoda’s appearance beforehand. There were hints about it, but I wasn’t directly involved. Discovering it on screen was as surprising for me as it was for everyone else. We have a lot to look forward to, and I hope we get the chance to delve deeper into this exciting development.”

“Gosh, with all these Easter eggs, concepts, and details swirling around… I’m at a loss. I can’t explain why Kylo Ren’s theme was being played, there are so many theories about the original Knights of Ren. But I’ll share these thoughts with Leslye [Headland], though she’s already aware. For now, I guess I’ll continue pondering and exploring these mysteries.”

Manny Jacinto Addresses Osha and Qimir Romance:

In the final episode of “The Acolyte,” Osha (Amandla Stenberg) departed to learn from Qimir (Manny Jacinto). Although Qimir had committed questionable actions during the series, there’s a strong fanbase rooting for a romantic relationship between him and Osha. The so-called “Oshamir” supporters were thrilled to see their favorite couple united, as Qimir tenderly held Osha’s hand in an apparent gesture of affection. Though a second season hasn’t been announced yet, Jacinto hinted at the potential for a romantic development between Qimir and Osha down the line.

In the fan-created artwork I’ve come across, there’s a noticeable theme suggesting a connection between Osha and the Stranger, Jacinto shared with GQ. This intriguing idea seems to resonate strongly with fans of this genre or IP, and I’m thrilled to see it gaining traction. So, we might expect more of such developments in the future. If there’s demand for it, we could delve deeper into that storyline in a future season.

The Acolyte is now streaming on Disney+.
