I have been deeply humbled by the opportunity to serve as your President, an experience that has touched my heart and enriched my life in ways I could never have imagined. However, after much reflection and consideration, I have decided that it is in the best interest of my party and our great nation for me to step down from seeking reelection. The remaining time of my term should be dedicated solely to fulfilling my duties as President to the best of my abilities. This decision was not made lightly, but with a deep sense of responsibility towards the people I have had the privilege of serving. My commitment to you all remains unwavering, and together we will continue to work towards a brighter future for our country.

Biden announced that he would share more information about his recent decision with the public later in the week.

As someone who has had the honor of serving as a Democratic president for the past four years, I have always been deeply committed to the values and principles that our party stands for. However, after much reflection, I have decided not to seek re-nomination for another term. Instead, I will dedicate all my energies to fulfilling the responsibilities of this office during the remainder of my term.

Today, I express my heartfelt backing and approval for Kamala to represent our Democratic Party as its nominee in this election. fellow Democrats, it’s crucial that we unite and work towards defeating Trump. Let us make it happen.
