Former WWE Champion's Contract Set To Expire Soon: Report

As a long-time wrestling fan and follower of Bobby Lashley’s career, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and anticipation as I read about his possible departure from WWE. Lashley, also known as “The Almighty,” has been a staple in the wrestling world since his debut with the company back in 2005. I still remember his early days in Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), the developmental territory for WWE at the time, and his eventual rise to fame.

A past WWE titleholder, Bobby Lashley, might be approaching his departure from the WWE. With no appearance for several months, fans are growing curious about his whereabouts. The Pride storyline between Lashley and The Street Profits seems to have been abandoned by the WWE, leaving fans puzzled. As per Fightful Select’s report, Lashley’s current contract with the WWE is close to expiring. The termination could be imminent, according to the update.

WWE’s decision on re-signing Lashley is uncertain, as reported by PW Nexus, he has been taken off WWE’s internal roster but still appears on their website. According to Fightful, if Lashley doesn’t renew his contract with WWE, there are sources suggesting that he intends to continue wrestling elsewhere. In other words, even if things don’t work out with WWE, Lashley may still be seen in the ring somewhere else in the future.

Lashley has been absent from WWE’s live shows since LA Knight clinched the number one contender spot for the Undisputed WWE Championship on SmackDown. Following that, Lashley defeated Karrion Kross in a dark match after their long-standing feud with Pride stable. He participated in some additional matches at live events before vanishing from the ring altogether. Initially planned to compete in this year’s King of the Ring tournament, Lashley was withdrawn due to an injury sustained during training. No specific information has been shared regarding the extent or nature of his injury.

Since 2005, “The Almighty” has had an on-again, off-again relationship with WWE. He debuted in Ohio Valley Wrestling, which was then the developmental branch of WWE. However, he left the company in 2007 to explore other opportunities in wrestling, such as TNA, where he gained a significant fan base. In 2018, Lashley rejoined WWE full-time and established The Hurt Business with MVP, Shelton Benjamin, and Cedric Alexander.
