As a huge fan of the quirky and hilarious duo, Johnny Vegas and Sian Gibson, I couldn’t be more excited for the upcoming special installment of Murder, They Hope, titled Apocalypse Slough. The chemistry between these two actors is undeniable, and their unique brand of comedy never fails to leave me in stitches.
Following the holiday season finale of Murder, They Hope, I’m thrilled to share that there’s more comedy and mystery in store for us! A special installment titled Apocalypse Slough is set to premiere in September.
In the upcoming episode, lasting two hours, Johnny Vegas, Sian Gibson, and Sarah Hadland will reprise their roles. This installment brings Gemma’s long-held aspiration to life as she joins the Serious Crimes Agency (SCA) as an investigator. Unfortunately, Terry is prevented from fulfilling his dream due to his past criminal record.
As a seasoned detective with years of experience under my belt, I can tell you that every new case brings its own unique challenges. But this latest one, as the synopsis puts it, has really thrown us for a loop. With tensions running high between us due to personal issues, my partner and I are now tasked with solving a baffling double murder at our local rugby club.
As I follow Gemma deeper into this intricate investigation, doubts start to surface about our collaboration and the enigmas we’re unearthing. If Gemma fails to accelerate, it might not only jeopardize the case but also put both of us in danger.
Terry and Gemma come back with a fresh, full-length #MurderTheyHope special this Fall. In “#ApocalypseSlough,” Gemma realizes her ambition of becoming a no-nonsense, tenacious investigator, while Terry’s past criminal record prevents him from achieving the same dream.

As a passionate fan of British television, I can hardly contain my excitement for this upcoming special! With a guest cast that is absolutely stacked, it’s sure to be a feast for the eyes and ears.
Additionally, joining the cast are Matthew Kelly (known for Inside No 9), Charlie Hardwick (familiar from Emmerdale), Gemma Jones (renowned for her work in Harry Potter), Harry Peacock (recognized in Bad Education), and debutant Dane Williams.
Jason Cook, the writer, producer, and brainchild behind the project, expressed his excitement: “I’m thrilled to be reunited with Gemma and Terry, and this time Monica is joining us to add more fun – or chaos! What an impressive group of actors we’ve gathered. I can hardly wait for you all to witness their brilliant performances.”
Originally, Murder, They Hope started out as a standalone TV movie titled Murder on the Blackpool Express in 2017. Since then, it has given birth to another TV film and two full seasons. More recently, a special Christmas episode named Blood Actually was added to the series.
