As a long-time wrestling fan and someone who has followed Nic Nemeth’s career since his days in WWE, I am absolutely thrilled to see him making waves in various promotions over the past few months. His recent accomplishments of winning the IWGP Global Championship, AAA Mega Championship, and now the TNA World Championship are truly impressive.
Over a period of approximately seven months, Nic Nemeth has experienced the most successful year in his career since the past decade. Following his departure from WWE towards the end of 2023, he waited for his non-compete clause to elapse. Once this condition was met, Nemeth swiftly made an impact by attending NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 on January 4th and intruding at TNA Hard to Kill nine days later. Over the subsequent six months, he accumulated the IWGP Global Championship, the AAA Mega Championship, and ultimately the TNA World Championship.
Nic Nemeth Speaks on His Goals Moving Forward
The Wanted Man simply wants to prove his worth to himself.
When Liam Crowley from ComicBook asked Nic Nemeth if he had a list of objectives similar to Cody Rhodes’s in 2016, Nemeth explained that his main priority is to be just as excellent now as he was during his time in the WWE environment.
“Nemeth admitted he didn’t previously keep a record of potential talents. However, he now keeps an eye out for rising stars in various arenas. But, he emphasized, he doesn’t have a formal list. For 19 years, he was in a comfortable zone and questioned whether he could match his past success in a new era and environment. Could he compete against top wrestlers like Tanahashi in Japan or face off against Josh Alexander in TNA for an extended period? He needed to prove these capabilities to himself.”
Mentioning Nemeth, he had an impressive 20-year tenure with the WWE. Joined by the company soon after graduation, his entire experience in professional wrestling was limited to WWE.
In simpler terms, Nemeth admitted, “I’ve only worked with this specific team before, and Moose is new to me. I’ve never had a chance to practice with him before our match. With just 45 minutes for preparation, I need to go out there and make it work on the spot.”

In his own admission, Nemeth expressed self-doubt due to unfamiliarity with the new environments he found himself in. Along the way, there were minor setbacks, but he adapted quickly by making necessary adjustments. At AAA, he had to alter his approach. The same was required of him in New Japan. He needed to shift his perspective while retaining a solid foundation of wrestling skills. Upon entering the locker room, he wasn’t met with excitement from his peers, instead hearing more like “Prove yourself first and we’ll accept you.” This was exactly how Nemeth wanted it, and he hopes he managed to do just that.
On this coming Thursday, July 25th at 8 PM ET on AXS TV, TNA iMPACT! will see Nemeth make his debut as the new TNA World Champion.
