As a long-time fan of both Marvel Comics and Xbox, I was absolutely thrilled when Microsoft and Marvel announced the special edition Deadpool and Wolverine Xbox Series X consoles last week. The Deadpool controller with its cheeky design was a hilarious and unexpected addition that instantly grabbed my attention. But, poor Wolverine was left out in the cold without his own custom controller.
I was thrilled last week when Microsoft and Marvel unveiled an exclusive Xbox Series X console inspired by Deadpool and Wolverine. While custom Xbox consoles based on movies have become commonplace, this one stood out with a quirky Deadpool controller sporting his infamous backside. The design was said to be personally created by Deadpool himself, leaving Wolverine in the shade without a custom controller of his own. However, Xbox made it right today by introducing the Wolverine controller, which boasts Logan’s iconic yellow and blue outfit and shares the same level of “cheeky” charm as its Deadpool counterpart.

The Wolverine controller model, similar to Deadpool’s, isn’t available for purchase. Instead, Marvel enthusiasts have a chance to win one through an exclusive giveaway. Unlike the previous contest which took place on X/Twitter, this sweepstakes is being run on Instagram. To enter, search for @Microsoft’s post with the hashtag #MicrosoftCheekySweepstakes, like it, and leave a reply with the same hashtag. For more information, check out Xbox’s official website. Microsoft is commemorating the sweepstakes by displaying a billboard in Alberta, Canada showcasing the Wolverine controller design from Microsoft. Deadpool is depicted sitting comfortably between the controller’s “checks,” and the billboard bears the message, “My best buddy’s checks have never looked better.” It’s quite an intriguing sight to come across in public spaces. Admittedly, this specific controller won’t be available for purchase. However, it does serve the purpose of advertising the upcoming movie, which makes its presence somewhat justifiable.
As someone who has been an avid gamer for decades and a devoted Xbox user since its early days, I’ve always been intrigued by the unique designs of their controllers. This year alone, Microsoft has unveiled two custom Xbox controllers inspired by Wolverine – yes, you heard that right, two!
