New Xbox Controller Leaks Before Announcement

As an avid Xbox gamer with years of experience under my belt, I’m always on the lookout for the latest and greatest controllers to enhance my gaming experience. The news of a new “Sky Cipher Special Edition” controller for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One consoles has me excited!

A leaked image suggests that Microsoft is about to release a new controller for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One consoles, before an official announcement from the company. Although Microsoft offers custom controllers through its “Design Lab” feature, it also regularly launches traditional gamepads that can be bought in stores. It appears that a new version of this standard controller is nearly ready for unveiling.

According to trusted source billbil-kun at Dealabs, Microsoft is about to launch a new Xbox controller named “Sky Cipher Special Edition.” This controller shares resemblance with the one introduced in 2021 alongside Forza Horizon 5, featuring a transparent shell with a blue tint. The Sky Cipher controller is expected to hit the market next month, possibly on August 13th, priced at $69.99. An official unveiling is scheduled for July 31st.

In essence, the newly leaked Xbox controller, which shares cosmetic similarities with previous models but is believed to have internal improvements like haptic feedback, was reportedly under development at Microsoft last year under the codename “Sebile.” According to earlier reports, this advanced controller, boasting features akin to Sony’s DualSense, might be introduced before 2024 comes to an end.

Microsoft may be holding off on unveiling the revamped Xbox controller until it introduces its new Xbox Series consoles, scheduled to launch in late 2024. These consoles include an all-digital variant of the Xbox Series X and a 2TB version of the Xbox Series S, announced earlier this month. If true, Microsoft could unveil the new controller during this console release. At the very least, we can expect more details about the Sky Cipher edition to be shared next week.
