Deadpool & Wolverine Writers Talk “Awfully Fun” Deadpool Variants

As a long-time gamer and avid Marvel fan, I’m beyond excited about the latest addition to the Deadpool franchise: Deadpool & Wolverine. The multiverse crossover has been a staple of comic books for decades, but it’s new territory for the Deadpool movies, which have now joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the Marvel multiverse, Deadpool and his team are needed! During the Marvel Studios’ “Multiverse Saga,” sacred timelines, universe-threatening incursions, and variants, alternate forms of characters from different realities, have been presented. This idea isn’t new to the MCU, as it has explored multiverse branches through Disney+ shows like “Loki” and “What If…?” as well as films such as “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”

The Deadpool franchise, which was previously owned by Fox and now features Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson and Hugh Jackman as Logan, is exploring uncharted waters as it integrates with the X-Men universe in the upcoming R-rated MCU film, “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Previews for this movie have offered peeks at new versions of these characters, including an alternate Lady Deadpool sporting a ponytail.

Rhese shared his enthusiasm for creating stories for Deadpool’s alternate versions during Marvel Live’s Deadpool & Wolverine world premiere. He mentioned, “We’ve already encountered Lady Deadpool. I can’t reveal more, but these variants are a blast as we delve into lesser-known aspects of Deadpool’s character.”

Jackman, who had taken a break from playing Wolverine since the 2017 film “Logan,” is set to make a return for his tenth portrayal of the character. However, this version of Logan will be different from the one fans have been familiar with since the year 2000 and the release of “X-Men.” In this new storyline, Wolverine appears worn out and carries the burden of having disappointed everyone around him, as revealed by Agent Paradox (Matthew Macfadyen) from the Time Variance Authority.

“For over a decade and a half, we’ve had the privilege of crafting Deadpool’s stories. Writing Wolverine, however, was a fresh experience for us. Hearing that unique character’s voice inside our minds was an enjoyable adventure.”

Wade, who has retired, will encounter Jackman’s character once more in an upcoming TVA assignment. Their conflicted X-Men team dynamic will be put to the test as they try to save their world from impending doom.)

In Reese’s view, every comedic act requires a straight man. There’s the chaotic character, and then there’s the one who provides the balance. Hugh perfectly fits the role of Ryan’s counterpart. He gets irritated quickly, is easily annoyed, and is often in a bad mood. And to make things worse for him, there’s this persistent guy talking in his ear.

Marvel Studio’s film “Deadpool and Wolverine,” where you’ll find familiar faces like Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio, Stefan Kapi?i? as Colossus, Rob Delaney as Peter, Dafne Keen from “Logan” as Laura/X-23, and Matthew Macfadyen from “Succession” as TVA Agent Paradox, and Emma Corrin from “The Crown” as Cassandra Nova, is now showing exclusively in cinemas starting this Friday.
