AEW Having "Really Productive Renewal Negotiation" With Warner Bros. Discovery (Exclusive)

As a long-time wrestling enthusiast and avid All Elite Wrestling (AEW) fan, I’m thrilled to hear about the ongoing productive negotiations between AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD). Having followed AEW since its inception in 2019, I’ve grown attached to their unique brand of professional wrestling and the captivating storylines they’ve produced week after week.

AEW is moving closer to finalizing its media rights negotiations with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), as talks continue beyond their initial five-year deal signed in 2019. In this agreement, AEW’s weekly show, Dynamite, airs on TNT every Wednesday at 8 PM ET. Since then, WBD and AEW have expanded the partnership to include additional programming such as Rampage, Collision, Rhodes to the Top, and All Access. Throughout this contract year, AEW President Tony Khan has expressed his desire to extend and grow their partnership with WBD, making Max, WBD’s streaming service, the exclusive platform for all AEW content in the future.

AEW’s future with Warner Bros. Discovery is optimistic, although the contracts have not been finalized with a signature yet.

I, as an avid fan, had the pleasure of speaking with AEW president Tony Khan during an exclusive interview with ComicBook. He gave us the most recent scoop on his ongoing conversations with our beloved AEW’s current television partner. Stay tuned for more updates!

Khan expressed his excitement about being welcomed with open arms, “They’re eager for our presence here.” With three TV shows amounting to five hours of weekly television, “We have a lot to work through.” He added, “The standard of Dynamite is currently top-notch. I’m thrilled to be part of TBS and TNT. There are countless opportunities for us to explore together.”

I’m confident that no matter the outcome, AEW will find an excellent home and fantastic opportunities with TBS and TNT. Our renewal negotiations have been productive and engaging, leaving me thrilled about the future. We’ve had in-depth discussions which will carry on throughout this week and beyond.

Khan frequently engages in productive conversations with David Zaslav, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, whom he has a lengthy professional connection.

As a gamer, I’m fortunate to have a fantastic connection with Mr. Zaslav. He’s an amazing guy, truly tremendous. I really vibe with David, and he’s not just a friend to me but also to my loved ones. Plus, he’s a huge fan of AEW! This friendship is beneficial for everyone involved. I hope we can work together to make it last as it’s an incredible bond that we share. Let’s aim for a long-term collaboration because it’s going to be great for all of us.

In the coming year, Warner Bros. Discovery finds itself in an exclusive situation. Since 1984, one of its major draws has been NBA basketball matches. Currently, WBD is engaged in a competition with Amazon for acquiring the NBA deal. If WBD fails to secure the NBA, it’s expected that the popularity of AEW (All Elite Wrestling) would surge as the corporation looks to compensate for its significant live sports gap by offering alternative live sports content.

“Warner Bros. Discovery possesses an impressive collection of sports rights, such as AEW, March Madness, Major League Baseball, and this year’s College Football Playoff. I was particularly impressed by their acquisition of the College Football Playoff. They have also taken over NHL rights and are acquiring more college sports licenses. Warner Bros. Discovery is making some clever moves in the sports realm, although there’s still uncertainty regarding the NBA game rights.”

Stay tuned to ComicBook for updates on AEW’s future with Warner Bros. Discovery.
