WWE NXT Reveals First Great American Bash Week 2 Title Match

WWE NXT Reveals First Great American Bash Week 2 Title Match

As a long-time WWE fan and avid gamer, I’ve seen my fair share of epic feuds and thrilling matches in the world of professional wrestling. Tonight’s episode of NXT was particularly captivating for me as it built up to the highly anticipated Great American Bash event.

Tonight’s NXT episode marked the last one before the Great American Bash event, which spans over two weeks. The primary goal was to set the stage for week one by confirming several matches. However, sneak peeks into week two’s main event were subtly hinted at towards the end of the show. Ethan Page, who has faced challenges as NXT Champion, reached his breaking point during tonight’s broadcast. In response to these struggles, he approached NXT General Manager Ava Raine and requested a match against Oro Mensah. Graciously, she agreed, confirming that their encounter will transpire during week two of the Bash.

A Building Rivalry

From my perspective as a devoted fan, the tension between Mensah and Page can be traced back to Page’s initial appearance in NXT. However, it was an incident prior to Page’s on-screen debut that truly ignited their animosity. Noam Dar and Mensah had been assaulted, and there was widespread belief that Williams was responsible. This theory led to Legend challenging Williams about the attacks. Yet, just as things seemed to be resolved, the lights went out, and when they came back on, Page had ambushed Williams, officially announcing himself in NXT.

When Mensah came back, he had it in mind to teach Page a lesson, and he disrupted Page’s plans as much as possible. Oro intervened, preventing Page from participating in a Battle Royal that he hadn’t officially been eliminated from. This allowed Je’Von Evans to emerge victorious. Despite this setback, Page eventually earned another title shot and succeeded, but Mensah remained determined to best him.

Over the past two weeks, there have been two unexpected incidents where Mensah caught Page off guard and subdued him. The initial encounter left the locker room buzzing with excitement, evidently disturbing Page. When questioned about being pinned in the ring, Page downplayed it, insisting it was not genuine, did not matter, and didn’t affect him – but his response betrayed a different story.

Tonight, Page encountered numerous challenges backstage throughout the evening, some instigated by other stars and others orchestrated by Ava’s advisors, Stevie Turner and Robert Stone. The continuous discussions about the pin infuriated Page, but matters escalated when she was assaulted again by Mensah and pinned once more, fueling the Champion’s anger. In response, Page sought out Ava to request a match against Mensah, which was granted, and the contract signing was scheduled for the following week. The Title bout will ensue during the second week of Great American Bash.
