Their inclusion into this expansive cinematic universe is a dream come true for fans like myself who have waited years for these iconic characters to join forces.

As a longtime fan of the X-Men universe, I’m thrilled to my bones that Deadpool and Wolverine are hitting theaters this week! With Ryan Reynolds back for his third outing as the wise-cracking, fourth-wall-breaking mercenary, and Hugh Jackman reprising his iconic role as the X-Men stalwart for the seventh time, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia.

Although many moviegoers recognize these two characters well, they have not been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe helmed by Kevin Feige until now. The main reason for their absence was primarily due to complications with film rights.

In their newest production, the creators are sure to include numerous witty references to their past works, as they encounter the Time Variance Authority (TVA) and join forces to vanquish a mutual foe.

As a huge movie buff who’s been eagerly waiting for years, I can’t help but wonder if there’s a chance for another Deadpool adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) down the road. Here’s what we know so far.
