Evo has hit us with some great moments, and the 2XKO Braum gameplay has us excited.

Players got to try out the ice wall themselves while attending Vegas EVO 2024.

But how does the big guy play, and will he be worth making the duo team?

At this year’s EVO, Riot assured us they would provide some new gameplay. True to their word, they have been diving deep into it. Additionally, prior to the event, they surprised us with a sneak peek of the upcoming fighter, Braum, by releasing a trailer.

“Don’t be concerned if Jinx is what they’re anticipating next; she was even advertised as a work in progress this month. However, managing someone wielding a weapon in combat games can be quite challenging.”

The large character occupies nearly the entire screen, leaving only half for other elements. At the recent event, attendees had the opportunity to try him out personally. Initial reactions indicated that he moves rather slowly.

Instead of “Not bad slow, but good slow,” you could consider saying: “He moves slowly, not in a bad way, but rather with deliberate power. Unlike quicker opponents, his strength lies in big, forceful hits as he takes his time to advance.”

From my perspective as someone who has spent countless hours immersed in the intense world of fighting games, I can attest to the effectiveness of a strategic and well-timed use of a shield. Having witnessed firsthand the impact of armored hits in Tekken, I can appreciate how they provide an invaluable defensive advantage. The ability to absorb several blows while retaliating with calculated counterattacks is a skill that can turn the tide of any battle. With experience, one learns to read opponents’ moves and anticipate their next attack, using the shield as a means to buy precious moments to regroup or launch a surprise offense. It’s an essential aspect of the game that requires both patience and quick reflexes.

Continue flirting with him and get ready to deliver a strong move. Additionally, he’s been jotting down strategies from Sub-Zero, which gives him the ability to freeze opponents during fights. This can be employed tactically to switch characters or, more frequently, cause significant damage to the enemy.

His shield swings also cover a fair chunk of the screen, making up for some good neatural play.

Taunt Porro Killed Yet Again

Another point worth mentioning is Braum’s ability to perform ranged attacks, reminiscent of Porros’ style. The entities that persistently follow you in Aram function as ultimate abilities and behave similarly to Dudley’s rose taunt from Street Fighter 3.

It’s uncertain if he brings much value beyond showing off after his performance at EVO. From what we’ve seen in gameplay so far, he looks intriguing. Yet, his slow playstyle seems to clash with faster champions.

When facing off against champions of medium to heavy difficulty like Darius, he performs exceptionally well due to his ability to withstand such opponents without issue. However, when agile fighters such as Ahri consistently land multiple attacks, it weakens his defenses. In these situations, he must rely on defensive maneuvers involving slow swings or unfortunately, carelessly advancing towards them.

I’ve worked with many colleagues throughout my career, and some have been quick on their feet, winning speed contests left and right. But there’s one particular individual who stands out for a different reason. He may not be the fastest, but he certainly rewards those who practice patience. His calm demeanor and unwavering focus are truly admirable.

For individuals seeking a reliable tag-out option throughout the game, Braum is a strong contender. We’re excited about the opportunity to sign up for the Alpha version of his 2XKO gameplay.
