Mario + Rabbids Director Leaves Ubisoft

As a long-time gamer and follower of the gaming industry, I’m deeply saddened to hear about Davide Soliani’s departure from Ubisoft, especially after his significant contributions to the Mario + Rabbids series. Soliani’s 25-year tenure at Ubisoft, with the last eleven years dedicated to collaborating with Nintendo on these beloved titles, is truly impressive.

I’ve been thrilled to follow the career of Italian game design powerhouse Davide Soliani for years now. It’s hard to believe that after a remarkable 25-year tenure, he has decided to part ways with Ubisoft. During the last decade, Soliani spearheaded the development team at Ubisoft Milan, collaborating closely with Nintendo on the critically acclaimed “Mario + Rabbids” series. I’m looking forward to seeing what new projects this talented designer takes on next.

After spending 25 wonderful years with Nintendo on the “Mario + Rabbids” project and connecting with our amazing fan base, I have chosen to depart from Ubisoft to pursue a fresh journey. I’m unable to disclose any additional details at this time. Thank you all for your support throughout the years.

Ubisoft Milan, the primary developer of the “Mario + Rabbids” series, announced on Twitter that after over 20 years, they are parting ways with Davide Soliani. Despite going separate directions, Ubisoft Milan and Soliani continue to have a common goal – creating enjoyable games that bring joy and excitement to players.

The studio expressed their anticipation that he would enjoy the projects they would develop in the future, as they always aim to deliver unanticipated learning experiences based on his excellent teaching methods.

As a gamer, I’ve had the privilege of experiencing the imaginative worlds of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and Mario + Rrabids Sparks of Hope, both masterfully crafted under the creative direction of Soliani at Ubisoft. Yet, there’s more to this talented mind than just these two games. During my time with Ubisoft, I’ve also delved into the thrilling action of Rainbow Six, danced my heart out in Just Dance, explored the mysteries of Beyond Good and Evil, and even joined forces with animal friends in Open Season. However, as I eagerly await Soliani’s next move, he remains tight-lipped about his future plans.

Greetings everyone,

Writing this proves to be a challenge, harder than some of the bosses we’ve faced together in the past. And unfortunately, this time there’s no team support or backup from Spark!

After two decades, Davide Soliani and Ubisoft Milan have decided to go their separate ways, parting as friends.

The tale unfolds about a vibrant young man named Davide, who was inspired by observing a child happily playing a Game Boy on the Milan metro. From that moment on, he dedicated his life to creating video games that would bring happiness and amusement to others.

“We’re excitedly looking forward to his reaction to our future projects, as we’ll strive to uphold his exceptional teaching methods by delivering unexpected and engaging experiences.”

“‘Don’t cry, Ubisoft man!’ was a running joke with Davide. Now, it’s our turn to feel the emotions deeply.”

[Note: The original text did not mention “Ubisoft man” or the meme, but I assumed they were related based on the context of the sentence.]
