As a dedicated cinephile with a deep appreciation for the art of storytelling, I was both intrigued and disturbed by Callie Cooke‘s appearance as Lindy Pepper-Bean in Doctor Who’s “Dot and Bubble.” The episode, which explored the dangers of social media obsession and hidden prejudices, left a lasting impression on me.
Callie Cooke, who appeared as a guest star on Doctor Who, expressed her fondness for potentially rejoining the sci-fi series, although she isn’t set on reprising her role as Lindy Pepper-Bean.
As the social media influencer, Dot and Bubble, resided in Finetime, her hometown was invaded by colossal alien slugs. These extraterrestrial creatures capitalized on the city’s youth being overly engrossed in their devices.
The episode from season 14 generated significant buzz, majorly because it concluded with a shocking revelation: Lindy and her circle were uncovered as harboring racist beliefs.
I was presented with an opportunity by the Doctor to save myself using his TARDIS, but I passed it up solely based on his appearance. Instead, I chose to face the unknown in the vast wilderness, risking certain death.
On Doctor Who Unleashed, Cooke’s endearing demeanor helped create a space between her and Lindy. The actor portraying the Piglets expressed that all those reaching out to her were incredibly encouraging.
As a huge fan of Doctor Who, I’d be thrilled if the opportunity arose for me to return. Working with Russell T Davies was an absolute joy. We had an amazing time creating those episodes together.
I understand that if Lindy’s character met a tragic end in the story, it could mean I wouldn’t get to play that role again. But that potential outcome doesn’t deter me from being excited about the opportunity to bring the character to life once more.
She expressed her uncertainty about Russell’s perspective on Lindy’s situation, but suggested the intrigue of being reborn as someone else in that exceptional Welsh team environment, where she derived great pleasure.
Cooke currently stars in the ITV comedy series “Piglets,” where he plays a role in the storyline about a bunch of bumbling police trainees. Two quirky superintendents provide them with leadership throughout their training process.
Doctor Who is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
