Bad Monkey: Apple TV+ Releases Trailer for New Series From Ted Lasso EP

As a devoted gamer and avid consumer of all things entertainment, I have been keeping my eyes peeled for the latest offerings from the world of streaming services. Apple TV+, in particular, has caught my attention with their recent string of successes, spearheaded by the brilliant and heartwarming “Ted Lasso” and the quirky yet thought-provoking “Shrinking.” Now, Bill Lawrence and his team are set to unleash another gem upon us: “Bad Monkey,” based on Carl Hiaasen’s novel of the same name.

Bill Lawrence, a successful producer and writer, has been on a roll with comedies for Apple TV+. In 2020, he co-created the Emmy-winning “Ted Lasso” with Jason Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly. Following this success, he teamed up with Brett Goldstein and Jason Segel to develop the Emmy-nominated “Shrinking.” To top it off, Lawrence is set to debut another series on Apple TV+ this summer titled “Bad Monkey.”

The television show “Bad Monkey,” inspired by Carl Hiaasen’s novel, introduces Vince Vaughn as its protagonist – a past cop turned health inspector. On Wednesday, Apple unveiled the initial trailer for this intriguing series about an investigation into a bizarre incident involving a disconnected human arm. You can watch it here below.

The highly-anticipated series “Bad Monkey” is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on August 14th. Its first two episodes will be available for viewers to watch simultaneously. Following this, new episodes will be released every week, with a total of ten episodes in the season. Joining Vaughn in this star-studded cast are Jodie Turner-Smith, Rob Delaney, John Ortiz, Zach Braff, Michelle Monaghan, Alex Moffat, and Scott Glenn, among others.

Alongside acting in the show, Vaughn plays a role as an executive producer, joining forces with Lawrence. Moreover, Jeff Ingold, Matt Tarses, Marcos Siega, and Liza Katzer are among the other individuals who hold executive producer positions. Notably, Lawrence oversees the production of “Bad Monkey” in her capacity as its showrunner.

Here’s Apple’s official synopsis for Bad Monkey:

Inspired by Carl Hiaasen’s successful New York Times novel and beloved quirky classic, “Bad Monkey” follows the story of Andrew Yancy (portrayed by Vaughn). Having been let go from the Miami Police Department, he now works as a health inspector in the Florida Keys. However, things take an unexpected turn when tourists discover a human arm while wading through the shallow waters. Determined to solve this crime and regain his position in law enforcement, Yancy must navigate through a cast of eccentric Floridians and deal with one troublesome monkey.

In addition to the main cast, this production features a talented ensemble of actors: L. Scott Caldwell (“The Fugitive”), Rob Delaney (“Catastrophe”), Meredith Hagner (“Search Party”), Natalie Martinez (“La Promesa del Retorno”), Alex Moffat (“Saturday Night Live” and “Holidate”), Michelle Monaghan (“Gone Baby Gone”), Ronald Peet (“First Reformed”), Jodie Turner-Smith (“Queen & Slim”), John Ortiz (guest star, “American Fiction”), Zach Braff (“Scrubs”), Ashley Nicole Black (“Ted Lasso”), Scott Glenn (“The Leftovers”), and Charlotte Lawrence making her television debut.
