The Boys Star Teases New Villain's Connection to Fan-Favorite Supe

As a dedicated fan of “The Boys,” I was absolutely thrilled with the twists and turns that Season 4 brought us. The introduction of Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) was a game-changer, and her clever manipulations left me on the edge of my seat.

In the fourth season of “The Boys,” significant confrontations were introduced for future developments in the fifth and final season. Could it be that a beloved superhero character, much anticipated by fans, is set to reappear?

WARNING: The Boys Season 4 SPOILERS Follow!

In the fourth season of The Boys, Sister Sage (played by Susan Heyward) was introduced as a character with an extraordinary intellect, making her the most intelligent person on the planet. A significant storyline during this season involved Sage taking a risky move by aligning herself with Homelander in The Seven. She assured Homelander that she possessed a plan to lead a supes-controlled America, which would elevate him to its helm. In return, she was granted the opportunity to execute plans that were previously denied to her.

It came as no shock that Homelander found it hard to believe in Sage’s scheme as the story progressed. Eventually, he expelled her from The Seven once it was revealed that she had been aware of A-Train’s betrayal and had acted as his spy. However, Sage had the final victory: after Homelander’s power grab failed, she executed her hidden agenda. She maneuvered newly-elected president Robert Singer aside, killed his vice president Victoria Neuman, and established Homelander and Vought as the new rulers of America.

Fans of The Boys were intrigued by a notable discovery in Season 4: Sister Sage’s diary, containing her elaborate scheme. The cover featured an animated image of none other than Queen Maeve, suggesting Sage harbored strong admiration for the Amazonian hero. When Sage was ousted from The Seven, she deliberately threw her Maeve journal onto their table. Fans speculated that this action could foreshadow developments in “Phase Two” of Sage’s plan, which she hinted at during the Season 4 finale.

In an interview with TV Line, Susan Heyward hinted that Sister Sage could have deeper intentions than just dressing up as Queen Maeve.

I’ve had conversations with them, proposing a few ideas. In response, they mentioned they’re considering some options too, but they’re not ready to disclose them yet. That information will be revealed at a later time, possibly during the next season.

In the finale of The Boys Season 3, Maeve was last portrayed collaborating with Butcher, who had been infused with Compound V, to confront Homelander and Soldier Boy. However, after being struck by Soldier Boy’s abilities, Maeve lost her powers, yet she orchestrated a deception of her own demise, opting for a “regular life” with her lover Elena. It is essential to note that Maeve’s escape was not entirely successful; both The Boys and Ashley are aware that she is still alive. Moreover, Ashley concealed the evidence – surveillance footage revealing Maeve’s survival – to maintain the illusion.

It’s plausible that Sister Sage could discover this hidden truth on her own, considering Maeve’s potential role against The Seven once her abilities are reactivated. Hints of this were dropped in the Season 4 finale during the post-credits scene, where Homelander obtained Soldier Boy who is currently in stasis. Therefore, the tools for unraveling this secret exist.

The Boys Seasons 1-4 are streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
