Xbox Game Pass Reveals New Day One Release for August

As a long-time Xbox Game Pass subscriber, I’m always on the lookout for new and exciting games to add to my library. The recent announcement of “Core Keeper,” developed by Fireshine Games, has me particularly intrigued. Having followed the game’s development on Steam, where it has earned a very positive rating since its early access release in 2022, I can’t wait to see what all the fuss is about!

Xbox Game Pass hasn’t announced its line-up for the initial two weeks of August, but we have news about a new release joining the service in the second half of the month. This upcoming game is called Core Keeper, and it will be available starting August 27th on Xbox Series X|S and PC. Unfortunately, Xbox One users will miss out on this one. Developed by Fireshine Games, Core Keeper initially launched in early access on PC in 2022 and has received an impressive “very positive” rating on Steam since then. Game Pass subscribers are soon to discover what all the buzz is about!

An Xbox trailer for Core Keeper can be found below.

Core Keeper is described as a “subterranean mining adventure,” where players delve into a hidden underground world filled with mystery. The core gameplay involves exploration, extracting resources through mining, cultivating crops, and battling formidable creatures. Players can prepare meals using recipes to gain beneficial effects for tackling the subterranean challenges. Solo play is an option, but the game supports co-op for up to eight players. Some Steam users have drawn parallels between the early access version of Core Keeper and Terraria, making it worth checking out for fans of that title!

Based on what we’ve seen so far, Core Keeper appears to be an excellent addition to Xbox Game Pass. The allure of the subscription service lies in its ability to introduce subscribers to lesser-known titles. Given the game’s support for 1-8 players, it seems poised to attract both solo adventurers and social gamers alike.

In September, Xbox Game Pass will undergo some adjustments: a price hike for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and the introduction of a new “standard” tier without day one access. Core Keeper, set to launch on August 27th, is set to join the service before these changes take effect, benefiting both current Ultimate subscribers and those opting for the standard plan.
