As a long-time theatre critic with a deep appreciation for classic stories brought to life on stage, I’m thrilled to see John Simm take on the iconic role of Scrooge in this year’s production of “A Christmas Carol” at The Old Vic. Having grown up watching Simm’s remarkable performances as The Master in Doctor Who and Detective Sam Tyler in Life on Mars, I can only imagine the depth and nuance he will bring to the grumpy old miser.
John Simm has been cast in this year’s production of A Christmas Carol at The Old Vic.
The well-recognized actor, who has shined in the roles of The Master in Doctor Who and Detective Sam Tyler in Life on Mars, is set to take the helm of the cast as Ebenezer Scrooge in the forthcoming West End production.
For over eight years now, Jack Thorne’s new take on Charles Dickens’ timeless tale has graced the theater stages. (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child author)
I was captivated when Christopher Eccleston stepped into the role of the Time Lord last year. The turnout was incredible, with a staggering 66,000 people attending.
I’m thrilled to announce that John Simm will be joining our exceptional cast as Scrooge in our production for 2024. He’ll be putting on the iconic red coat and crumpled hat, bringing his unique talent to this cherished role. Our audiences, whether they’re attending for the first time or the eighth, are in for a treat as we prepare to serve them yet another helping of beautiful music, enchanting magic, and heartwarming holiday cheer.
