Bryan Danielson's AEW Contract Expires Before ALL IN: London

As a devoted fan of Bryan Danielson, also known as The American Dragon, I can’t help but feel a bittersweet sense of excitement and anticipation as we approach his final year in professional wrestling. Danielson’s career has been nothing short of extraordinary, and his decision to retire after 2024 is a testament to his dedication and passion for the sport.

Bryan Danielson’s farewell tour has started. In 2023, The American Dragon declared that 2024 would be his final year as a full-time wrestler, expressing his intention to devote most of his time to his family instead. Over the ensuing months, Danielson accomplished significant achievements, including squaring off against Zack Sabre Jr. in their coveted technical bout, facing Kazuchika Okada at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 in Tokyo Dome, and wrestling for CMLL at Arena Mexico. Remaining on his agenda is a marquee match at AEW ALL IN: London, where he will challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship title within Wembley Stadium.

It appears that The American Dragon will fly into Wembley Stadium on a handshake deal.

During a longer version of his interview on AEW Dynamite, Bryan Danielson disclosed that his wrestling agreement with AEW will end on August 1st. This is more than three weeks prior to the scheduled date of AEW ALL IN: London.

I confirm that statement is accurate. My AEW contract indeed ends on August 1st. Coincidentally, that’s also the day my son turns four years old. So next Thursday, I will be wrapping up my wrestling commitments and celebrating my little one’s milestone birthday together.

Danielson’s reference to a “wrestling contract” means that he has an additional deal with AEW beyond August 1st. Danielson is highly respected in AEW for his leadership skills in the locker room and has earned recognition from AEW President Tony Khan for contributing to the development of AEW storylines. Much like CM Punk, who held both a talent and a “consultant” position, Danielson likely has separate contracts for his on-screen performances and off-camera roles.

As a gamer, I’ve reached the final level of my wrestling career, and my contract expires on August 1st. My wife and I had discussed that this would be my last contract, leaving me with mixed feelings. On one hand, I’m curious about what lies beyond wrestling, but for now, I need to concentrate on my upcoming match at Wembley. That’s the challenge before me.

Danielson headlines AEW ALL IN: London on Sunday, August 25th.
