Deadpool & Wolverine addresses fate of MCU’s delayed Blade movie

As a long-time fan of Marvel movies and Wesley Snipes’ iconic portrayal of Blade, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and concern regarding the latest developments surrounding the upcoming Blade reboot. It’s been quite a rollercoaster ride so far, with numerous production complications that have left many fans scratching their heads in disbelief.

**WARNING: Contains spoilers for Deadpool & Wolverine**

If you’re an avid fan of Marvel Cinematic Universe news, you might have detected that the production of the new Blade film has encountered several issues.

Mahershala Ali, who has won two Oscars, was first announced in 2019 to star as the title character in a superhero film. However, since then, several directors have been linked to the project but none have stayed on board. First, Bassam Tariq and later Yann Demange were attached, only to leave the production without a director currently.

Based on the information given, I find it quite intriguing that the production of this script has been a rollercoaster ride, to say the least. With numerous rewrites and unexpected withdrawals from supporting actors like Aaron Pierre and Delroy Lindo, it’s no wonder that Ali’s own lawyer, with years of professional experience under their belt, would describe the situation as “the craziest thing in my career.” It just goes to show that even in the world of filmmaking, life can throw us unexpected curveballs.

After experiencing all that chaos, it’s not shocking at all that the latest Deadpool & Wolverine installment became fodder for a playful quip in this freshly dropped film. And true to form, the wisecracking tone that Ryan Reynolds brought to life so brilliantly in the earlier movies persists in this new production.

It’s even more unexpected, though, to discover the one who told the joke: none other than Wesley Snipes, the initial Blade actor himself.

A well-known actor has signed up for a surprise role in the high-octane movie’s ensemble, marking their first appearance in that character since “Blade: Trinity” was released 20 years ago.

At some point, this iteration of Blade says the line: “There’s only one Blade in existence… There will only ever be one Blade.”

As a devoted moviegoer and Marvel fan, I can’t help but notice the subtle wink Reynolds gives in this scene. It’s an unmissable nod to the challenges Marvel Studios has faced during the pre-production of their latest project. The self-aware glance towards the camera adds an intriguing layer to the moment, hinting at the behind-the-scenes realities that us fans might not otherwise be privy to.

I’ve recently noticed the ongoing turmoil on X, formerly known as Twitter. Shortly after new reports of behind-the-scenes chaos emerged, Snipes made a comment that resonated with me: “Wow, Blade. People are still searching for the magic formula, riding snowmobiles in traffic, quite rough. Daywalkers make it seem effortless, don’t they?”

People are still searching for the special recipe, acting recklessly on snowmobiles amidst traffic. It seems effortless for Daywalkers though, don’t they? #DaywalkerGang #Blade #Marvel

Although the joke, the intention remains to unveil the latest Blade movie towards the end of 2025 – specifically slated for a November release at the moment.

There have been hints, according to World of Reel, that the film may begin production by the end of this year.

So, it looks like progress could finally be made – we’ll be keeping abreast of all the latest news.

Deadpool & Wolverine is now showing in UK cinemas.
