Valorant Open Beta Launches on Xbox and PlayStation

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I’m thrilled to finally get my hands on Valorant, the highly-anticipated 5v5 character-based tactical shooter, on my PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S through the console Open Beta. The fact that it’s free-to-play and available as a free download is just an added bonus for me.

I’m thrilled as a fan to share that Valorant, the popular 5v5 tactical shooter, is now available in console Open Beta for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S users. Since it’s free-to-play, downloading the open beta is absolutely free. However, if you prefer to buy Valorant Points with real money instead of earning them through gameplay, both consoles offer that option.

According to executive producer Andy Ho in the Xbox Wire post, we’re approaching the beginning of this game’s journey. We don’t have a specific end date set, and instead plan to continuously develop it with no expiration date. Our goal is to ensure that players’ commitment to the game remains valuable over an endless period.

In alignment with the Open Beta launch on consoles, Riot Games made available answers to common questions about the game on their official website.

Do I still have to register to join the Valorant Console Open Beta?

In simple terms, if VALORANT’s open beta is currently accessible on the consoles you have access to, feel free to join in. But if the open beta isn’t available yet in your location, you can add it to your wishlist to receive a notification when it becomes accessible.

Can I play Valorant against my friends who play on a different platform than I do?

While standing in line to play, Xbox and PlayStation users will exclusively interact, preventing PC players from joining their games. This measure upholds our commitment to maintaining a level playing field between console and PC gamers.

How will progression work, and will it reset after Valorant is live on consoles?

As someone who’s been avidly playing video games for decades, I can’t express how frustrating it is to start over from scratch every time I switch platforms. I get it, companies want to protect their intellectual property, but as a loyal customer, it feels like a slap in the face. However, with this new feature, my gaming experience is about to be revolutionized!
