Deadpool & Wolverine: Kevin Feige Addresses MCU Anchor Being Theory (Exclusive)

As a hardcore Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and X-Men gamer, I have witnessed the intricacies of their interconnected universes unfold over the years. The news that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine served as an “anchor being” for the X-Men timeline, keeping his universe alive, leaves me both amazed and saddened.

As a longtime fan of the X-Men universe, I’ve witnessed the evolution of some beloved characters over the years. The bond between Deadpool and Wolverine is one of my favorites, and their dynamic in the multiverse has always intrigued me. So, when I came across this passage, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness.

Paradox continues by describing how an anchor is a crucial entity, and when it perishes, its entire universe begins to fade away. In the X-Men universe, Wolverine served as the anchor. He passed away in the 2017 film “Logan,” making a heroic self-sacrifice that sent shivers through the timeline.

Instead of letting Earth-10005 of TVA’s jurisdiction gradually fade away, Paradox has chosen a more expedient method. With the use of the Time Ripper, a device that can disrupt the space-time continuum, they will hasten the death of Deadpool’s universe, putting an end to its suffering in a swift and merciful manner.

Deadpool sets out on a mission to save his home world from being destroyed too soon. To accomplish this, he searches for a variant of Wolverine, who is identified by his blue and yellow suit and resembles Hugh Jackman. Deadpool believes that this version of Wolverine can help establish a new anchor point in the X-Men timeline to prevent the premature ejection of his world. In doing so, Deadpool ventures into the Sacred Timeline (Earth-616 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe), which has its unique anchor being whose existence is linked to all realities according to the rules of the Time Variance Authority.

Couldn’t it be Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man that served as the cornerstone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, just as Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine did for the X-Men films produced by Fox?

“I’m thrilled you asked that question, as it shows your enthusiasm for the story. And believe it or not, we were planning to introduce Victor Von Doom in the upcoming Avengers projects before the announcement.”

I was excitedly engrossed in “Deadpool & Wolverine” when a hint of something sinister emerged. In a scene situated within the Void, as described by Johnny Storm (Chris Evans) of the Fantastic Four as a “metaphysical junkyard” where discarded TVA castoffs dwell in limbo, an Easter egg was spotted. This intriguing clue suggested the existence of a malevolent alternate-universe version of Iron Man.

I’m thrilled to share that Marvel Studios has announced some exciting releases coming up for me as a fan! First, “Avengers: Doomsday” is scheduled for May 2026. Next, get ready for “Avengers: Secret Wars” in May 2027. And if you’re in the mood for some humor and action right now, don’t miss “Deadpool & Wolverine” playing in theaters!
